I have bought quite a few harnesses from Mike and Mike and they have all come out perfect. Very knowledgeable and great guys. If you haven’t already ordered one you should.

This might be a dumb question but if I wanted to do the heated wheel/seats upgrade, would I have to get new leather seats or could I just get katzkin leather installed?

Whatever seats you have ie heated/vented powered will determine what you can have. The Katskins are just a cover. Some seats have just power while others are power and heated and then power/heated/vented.

If you are talking about adding integrated heated wheel and seat functionality with the harnesses @DeereGuy makes, then you will need to get actual Mopar Ram seats that have the factory heated and/or cooled function built in from a higher trim level truck.
There are aftermarket heated seat options (but not the wheel) that can be installed in existing seats and hardwired to a switch you install anywhere (no vehicle integration though).

Currently have the standard cloth seats in my '17 Big Horn Quad Cab. Driver side power, passenger side manual. No heat.

Looking at changing to leather, heated and cooled, memory seats. BOTH sides powered.

Some questions:

Does the ventilation "come along for the ride" when adding heat? I know Ill have to have the sales code(s) added, but will it "just work" even in a Big Horn which never got ventilated seats?

Im not sure what extra stuff (harnesses, modules, etc) would be required. Id be happy to look under my seats and provide pics if that helps, but after reading this thread I dont think I saw someone with a '17 add "upgraded" seats.

Is there truth to the whole BCM "seat type" setting? If so, since the Big Horn was only ever expected to come with cloth seats, is it possible to change that setting to leather/perforated leather? Does that setting actually effect how much juice it sends the seat heaters? Ive seen varying opinions of how well the stock seat heaters work, I wasnt sure if maybe they just had the wrong setting for the seats they had.

Ive seen a whole ton of sets of CREW cab seats, but not many quad cab. Not an electrical question, but, aside from the rear seat bottom, will the crew cab seats fit in a quad cab?

Thats it for now (lol)

Thanks in advance.

How is the move going Mike? Hoping to get back to my OH console install when you have time to answer some questions.

Almost done. Hopefully within the next week. Starting to get a build room set up with 2 or 3 workbenches and storage shelves so I can start unpacking all my parts.
If you have questions about the overhead console wiring, DeereGuy can answer them when he gets the chance (he actually added one to his own truck where as mine came with it).

Edit: I'm up and running again.

I had spent a substantial amount of time looking into this mod, to the point I actually bought the relays I needed to replicate the kit that myoung created. I think I hit a wall where the wiring changed a bit in the later model powerwagons. I wonder if this is why they stopped making the kits. The other problem is I don’t have a power wagon or know anyone that does. So it’s kind of hard for me to develop this without that.

I would be happy to make a day trip to Pittsburgh and volunteer as a test mule if desired.

Yes your truck should have all the proper wiring for the heated/vented seats and heated wheel

The memory function on the seats will not work. Your truck does not have the correct modules or wiring.

Yes there are different settings in the BCM for the different seat materials plus different heated steering wheels. When I first did my conversion my BCM was set to default setting and the heated seats and wheel still worked well even though they most likely or not on the correct setting.

The front seats for the Quad and Crew cabs are the same. The rear seat back on the crew has the available fold out cup holder the Quad does not. The back rear seats would probably interchange but the seat bottom would not fit without modification if it fit at all,and if it was installed it would leave little leg room.

Mike, images of 2017 Tradesman 3500 dash connectors. Passenger side shows your harness to move rear camera feed to RA2 instead of going to the mirror. Looking for population diagram to feed an overhead console with homelink / compass, maplights and drink holder light. Also where to connect stand alone BT microphone. I have partial harness from a 2014 1500 CC but realize the color coding has changed on the newer trucks. Once if have everything mapped out I will forward a diagram of harness that I hope you can build. steveIMG_2636.JPG

As someone that has put Crew cab seats in a quad cab, dont bother with it. The crew cab lower seats are a good 3-4" longer and you run into an issue with having to grind, drill and cut the seat mounts that come with the crew seats to make them bolt in. These are the rebel rear seats I put into my old truck and then proceeded to trade it in 2 days later. Definitely didnt like the look.

Nice looking seats, but yeah way too close to the fronts. Would be nice to buy a set of leather seats but I think Im going with re-upholstering my stock cloth seats. I can get any setup I want (custom), so it takes a little of the sting out of the cost and work involved.

So I recently swapped in a RA4 to my 2015 truck. Everything is working great (cable and instructions were fantastic btw) with the exception the XM radio part.

I never really bothered with it as I don't have a subscription, but now I have a 6-month free trial and thought I'd give it a go. The radio will not go off of loading. and when I try to get the XM id, it says ID unknown on the screen. I do know it from the back of the unit and tried an update through the sirus website but no luck.

I don't know a lot about Sirius,XM, but the factory radio I took out did have it, so I assumed it would work on the new one also. Has anyone who has swapped out for a RA4 experienced anything like this?

Everything else works including Nav, so this is a mystery to me.
