Made an account back in college when I got a used 2007 Ram 1500. I did not have the money to do much to it so I did not frequent the forum. Sold the truck after I realized all the damage it had and work it needed right before I graduated and leased a Subaru....bad decision. Was at 33,000 miles of my 36,000 mile lease with 1.5 years left lol (underestimated the commute), in my defense i did not have the money for a down payment or the credit to get approved for financing, I knew someone at the dealer that said they could help with a lease

Now to the important stuff - yesterday I bought a used 2015 Ram 1500 Express Crew Cab! I got the dealer to work in a 2.5" leveling kit into the price (and they will still cover anything under the certified pre-owned warranty).

I am currently trying to decide on wheels and tires for the truck and am between the following:

Tires:
Nitto Ridge Grapplers
or
Cooper STT Pro

Size: 295/60R20 or 285/70R18

Wheels:
XD Monster 778 (Black) in either 20x9" or 18x9"

Looking for input on the sizing in terms of looks/rubbing with the level and MPG. I bought a truck so MPG is the least of my concerns but just interested.

A few pictures to come.

Welcome back!

I'd recommend an 18x9 wheel with a +12 to +18 mm offset. This will avoid rubbing at full steering lock with either tire size listed.

As far as the tire size, those two sizes are very close in overall specification. The 285/70R18 will have a taller sidewall so it's pretty much about how much tire vs. how much wheel you want to show.

Here's the comparison:

295/60 285/70

Diameter 33.9" 33.7"

Width 11.6" 11.2"

Sidewall 7.0" 7.9"

Circum. 106.6" 105.8"

Revs/Mile 599 595

Thanks guys, related to the above will the .4" difference in width make a difference with rubbing with the 2.5'' level?

Yes as it moves the wheels out a bit to allow for taller tires with no rub on the inside suspension bits.

I went with the 20x9 XD Monster 778s and the 295/60R20 Ridge Grapplers.

I also ordered a Rough Country Grill (w/o LED).

And so it begins!
