hi guys, I’m just tired of dealing with the awful tbi system my 1996 truck came with, yes, you read it right, it’s a 1996 and it came factory with the old tbi system, it’s a 5.9 but there’s just no fun, needless to say, sucks with gas mileage. So i was thinking of getting rid of the tbi and install a carburetor, so I have some questions.
Should I go with the 2 barrel
Holley made for the 360 dodge? Or should I go 4 barrel aftermarket edelbrock or Holley? The truck is automatic and it is my daily driver, but only drive it about 6 - 8 miles a day.
Thanks in advance for your comments

I would just go straight to 4bbl. Edelbrock airgap is the perfect candidate and whatever Holley or edelbrock carb you prefer. You will have to setup a fuel system and spark though too.

Should just need a fuel pressure reg and return line back to the tank for the fuel. For the ignition, i'm not really sure, but I saw a fully mechanical MSD distributor a little while back. Might **** off the Tach on the dash to remove the cam sensor, though one of the MSD ignition packs had a tach output for that specific reason.

Gas mileage, no. The computer is much better at controlling fuel flow for required power demand.
Power maybe, but only because you are changing from stock to a better intake and possibly bigger TB and self adjustable fuel flow. Will you make more power than building the EFI system, i'm not really sure. But its certainly easier to tune the carb than the computer.
