I've been using Meguiar's Hotshine and am very pleased with it, considering it is typically available at local auto parts stores. It will be shiney at first, but not too wet looking once settled in, just a clean new look that lasts for well over a week or so. Great to spray on my nubby Nitto MT's that no applicator can live through. You do need to give it a couple hours to settle in to avoid sling, but if you are patient, it is worth it.

Yep, that's THE question. For starters, I WOULDN'T use anything Armour-All. Go on any classic car forums and there are guys with sad stories about how it dry rots tires and plastics way more than any protection. Been there myself. It's probably the worst. I guess if you burn through street tires fast, it doesn't matter though. They'll be worn out faster than any damage. But some guys don't put a lot of miles on their rigs, and in that case, I'd steer clear of 'miracle' spray-on tire shine products unless it's shown they don't cause dry rotting. I use WD-40 on my tires (applied with a rag). Lasts long enough looks natural ...doesn't dry them out (probably does just the opposite). It's not for everyone. Doesn't last as long as tire shine stuff, but cheap to re-apply...

I disagree...I have been using ARMORALL on everything I have owned since 1978...Cars,Trucks,Motorcycles,Atvs,Snowmobiles, never had an issue...178107d1255115289-fastest-sled-earth-03_rx_1.jpg 178107d1255115289-fastest-sled-earth-03_rx_1.jpg 194097_202085_2_2007-triumph-speedmaster.jpg IM000467.JPG DSC08647 (2).JPG

Out of sheer laziness I tried an aerosol can this weekend and was pretty impressed. Meguiars hot shine aerosol. I usually use the Meguiars gel but these stock SRAs suck with applicators there's so many tiny grooves it can take me up to an hour to be happy with coverage. This was done in about 5 minutes or less with minimal overspray on the wheels. Hotrims used on chrome clads. Before wheels cleaner after wheels cleaned and then after tires dressed. All passenger front tire.

Somehow I screwed up post above. Was trying to say, I now use Meguiars Gel after a number of years using various aerosols. I found that Mequires gel lasted much longer than any of the sprays I've ever used. I got weeks with the gel as opposed to days with any spray.

Yes I used to only use the gel but as I said I dont find it easy to evenly apply in the stock SRAs, there are so many grooves that it either builds up or misses. Now I could use a paint brush, but my tires are usually the icing on top when washing, so at that point I would like it to be easier rather than harder. I am not saying I am throwing away my gels, but this little 5$ spray was a pretty good, very easy way to get a nice look on a fast washed truck.

You could also get a piece of masonite or cardboard and cut it to fit over the wheel but leave all the tire exposed and then spray the tire shine. No mess then

So I finally got a chance to use my new applicator this weekend and it worked quite well, I'm happy with it and gunna continue to use it from now on. The bristles are fairly stiff so when you get into the real side bite treads you gotta dab or I just rub up and down between each one. Obviously it's not a super fast process but let's be real here.... if you have gnarly mud terrains and you want a nice even coat of shine without sling, it's either gunna be a cheap foam like black magic or it's gunna take some time. I personally after making my tires absolutely disgusting by using oil based shines will never use a oil base again so I'm stuck in the taking some time category, and this thing is perfect for that. Will work with a spray or a cream, it's cheap, it won't get ruined by treads and it's easily cleanable [emoji106][emoji106]

I use a spray on clear thing made by turtle wax sold in wal mart. Easy to wipe off over spray and gives the tires a nice wet shine.

I have the same tires and yesterday was the first chance I had to clean the wheels/tires... you are not kidding about the little grooves. I attempted to use Ammo Mud (kinda like a gel) and a foam pad... that foam pad was toast after the 2nd wheel. With all the little grooves it was taking me forever. Using a brush with the Mud was not helping either...
Going forward I will be looking for some sort of aerosol and I will definitely be cutting some cardboard to size to protect the rims.

I found that for the heavily lugged mud terrain tires a cheap paint brush work very well and can be thrown out once it gets too raunchy with buildup in it.

Been using chemical guys trim gel on a soaked microfiber towel and just wiping it on if I can let the truck sit over night. Leave the towel in a zip lock when done and just reuse it since it's saturated with product.

Or if I'm about to head out I have been using the vrp dressing diluted with distilled water and spraying it on and wiping it off. Makes for easy coverage on my Arturo MTs
