Looking to swap my stock muffler for an aftermarket one and seems the top 2 are carven and magnaflow as I dont want drone. I'll be keeping MDS as I do alot of highway driving.

I want something not too obnoxious for leaving the house at 4/5 AM for work but sound alot better for when WOT. Currently looking at Carven TR/Progressive series and the Magnaflow 22" muffler.

Which do you prefer or think would suit me better? Iv heard the clips from youtube but they probably differ from in person.

Magnaflow is about $250-275 installed and carven is $400 with the self install kit (im in canada)

Do you lose low end power with both of these?

Magnaflow. But get the 14". It's not loud at all. I leave early in a townhouse. It's no problem. And I drive on he highway. You can hear it but it's no bother

I have the Carven Progressive exhaust system and really like it, truck has a low mean growl to it without being overly loud.
I have a QC and have no drone but have read guys with CCs have some.
I think the Carven sounds better then the others but sound is like looks its all subjective.

I have a Borla ProXS, which is a bit louder than the Magnaflow yet quieter than the Carven

I have the Magnaflow 24" which is part of a direct bolt on Mufflex kit. DIY ~ $300.
The local garage charged me $150 to install since I couldn't reserve the lift at the local military MWR autoshop in a reasonable amount o time, and at my age, I'm sick of lying on pavement.

Its "Hey I got a hemi loud," not "Hey I'm a loud-@$$," with a nice start-up and mellows out at 1500-2500 rpm for no drone on the highway. MDS does cause a little bogging down sound occasionally, but its neither overly annoying nor off-putting. If I keep the trans in a numbered gear, its all good all the time.

I added 5" chrome tips for a deeper note as well, and to be honest those tips make even the stock exhaust sound better.

I didn't lose any low end, in fact engine spools a tiny bit faster and sounds great doing it.

As I understand it, that's really a matter of losing exhaust scavenging from too wide/easy flow, not really a torque or back pressure issue. Exhaust flow out the end actually helps to draw the gases behind it on down the pipe. Engine has to work harder to exhaust when scavenging is interrupted.

My $.02.
I had the 18 boeshbuilt kit on for about 25,000 miles. It was nice at start up and when you got on it. It did get louder as I put more miles on it. I recently had the 22 magnaflow installed because I couldn't deal with the drone/engine noise at 1500 rpms any longer on longer trips. The 22 is a little louder than stock and better suits me (crew cab with 3.21 rear) I don't have to kick it up the 7th gear anymore on long highway trips to up the rpms to 2000. The wife and kids are not bothered by the tone anymore.

I recommend the Carven Progressive exhaust. I love it. It's loud when I want it to be and and nice steady rumble otherwise. Plus I leave at around 530am for work as well. No issues with the neighbors.

I had a carven progressive on a CC and it was too much. Really aggressive on startup and it droned like crazy. Around town I loved it. Long trips, not so much. Sold it off. Gonna give the Maggy 22" a try. If all else fails, corsa is always an option.

On the topic of the MDS, just turn it off. I get better mpg with it off and you get a nice even exhaust note without it trying to sound like a misfiring helicopter. I had to take my tune off to get my exhaust manifold bolts replaced under warranty, and driving around with the MDS active again was HORRIBLE. Just like the 5w20 oil instead of 5w30, the MDS is a regulations play (read as "stupidly worthless")

I just put on the Corsa 14405 with black tips. I did it myself using the lift at the auto hobby shop on base. If you have a lift it really isn't that bad of a job. On your pack may be painful although the stock exhaust came off fairly easily. WD40 helps. I would recommend adjusting it and lining it up perfectly the first time. I put it on last Sunday, and went back today to do my McGaughy's 2" rear drop and Hellwig sway bar and adjusted the exhaust to get the tips lined up since I was there. After a week the pipes were tight!

Anyway, I am impressed with the product, but honestly thought it would be louder!! To me it doesn't sound that much louder than stock. When standing in front of the truck you can't really hear the exhaust, when standing at the tailgate you can and it is not that much louder although it sounds much better. There is zero drone which is great but to get any sound out of it you really have to mash the pedal down. A slight acceleration just seems like a little bit louder engine noise. Cold start startups sound great, but still not that loud... You're not going to wake the neighbors in the morning. MDS, no difference, when cruising it sounds stock. When you're driving with cruise control on and ECO lights up it sounds exactly the same as stock.

I had the Magnaflow 18" kit on my last truck and liked it. It had drone in MDS, don't let anybody try to convince you otherwise, but it wasn't unbearable. The most annoying drone was around town at lower speeds when the mds would kick in. Highway drone wasn't anything turning the radio volume above 10 wouldn't take care of.
