True .

Any aftermarket filter that is speced for your engine can not cause a void in warranty.
The Magnus act prevents this from happening .

So uh, using what happened to Ramnewbie as an example, if he hadn’t of caught that and had his motor fail, Chrysler wouldn’t be able to deny him coverage because of a faulty filter which - also just so happens to be aftermarket and not Mopar?...[emoji848]

I don’t mean to start a whole ‘nother debate on this but it seems to me that the only thing the MMA protects you from is is just from the manufacturer outright voiding your warranty because they see an aftermarket part in place of a stock one.... and that the manufacturer has to also prove that your aftermarket part was indeed the cause. Sure, you can cop your, “Oh yeah, Mother-effer” attitude and turn it into a big courtroom battle but just my own personal opinion, I would just rather not mess with it and risk putting myself through some painful-assed litigation process but that’s just me. Everybody else who doesn’t have lifetime warranties or just don’t wanna conform are more than welcome to go that other route if they want.

You should find this info familiar....

Why? As I just got done saying in my last post, I’m not 100 percent convinced that the MMA protects us the way a lot of people says it does. Not without lawyer vs lawyer in a courtroom, that is.

No, I'm sure FCA would have denied warranty claim, my only recourse would have been against K&N.

Just glad I didn't have to find out.. I've seen reviews where other people have had their k&N's leak and it has always been diagnosed by k&n as improper installation, and in most cases have been gracious enough to give them a new filter. WTF would I do with a new filter if my engine was toast?

It’s funny how they would call it improper installation.

Got my oil changed the other day but they said they were gonna put in what the factory puts in which is a synthetic blend? I dunno. I didn’t want that and told them I wanted the full synthetic but I think what they put in was the Pennzoil Platinum. What’s the difference between that and the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum? Which I was able to order on Walmart.com the other day since I couldn’t find it anywhere else in a store. I ordered enough for 3 oil changes...lol. Three 5-quart jugs and 6 individual quart bottles.

Anyhoo, I talked to them about oil filters and they told me to just use a good quality oil filter. They did advise against using K&N filters because supposedly they had a motor warranty claim get denied because of one of them. I asked them who makes Mopar’s filters but they said couldn’t tell me. Go figure...lol. One dude asked me why I didn’t want to use Mopar filters and I told him that it wasn’t necessarily that I didn’t want to, it was just more/less because the Mopar’s are not a synthetic media filter and that those Wix XP’s supposedly were. The reason I asked about filters was because since I plan to do my own oil changes, I asked them what can I use if I can’t find a genuine Mopar filter so I guess the Wix XP it is it since that’s what my local Oreilly’s carries. Plus it says that it’s an OE replacement.

I finally did the first oil change on my 17' truck. I've had it just about 11 months now plus time sitting waiting to be sold so I figured I better do it. Was told factory fill was just regular penzoil conventional so that's what I had them put in with a mopar filter. Once I put some miles on I'll switch to full synthetic and a wix filter, but at the rate I'm driving it that might be a while yet. 1778 km's on it now or just a touch over 1100 miles.

My Express 5.7L just rolled 7,000mi and the first oil change I used M1 5W-20. I have learned over the years that fresh clean oil is more important that brand choice, change oil early and often.

I changed oil at 2500 mi. with PYB. been doing free dealer changes since. they use PYB (part # is on invoice and easy to look up. just noticed that last 2 changes dealer used Motorcraft xo5w-20qsp semi synthetic. It's not MS 6395. Not a big deal for me and if something goes south, they can explain it.

I have lifetime warranty, so I'm going to use oil with MS 6395 spec and Mopar filer. too many good choices (Penzoil, QSUD, Valvoline, Casrrol to name a few) to end up in a hassle over why I did not.

That’s awful strange the dealer used Motorcraft oil and not the pretty much standard Mopar oil. But yeah as long as you keep the receipt for proof, hopefully that’ll save you grief in the future.

I have lifetime warranty also so, I plan to only use what they say I have to. I did buy a Wix XP filter for when my next oil change comes up but I think I’m gonna only use that one that time only and just break down and buy me a few Mopar filters to use for future oil changes just to be safe. My dealer did tell me that FCA denied a motor claim to someone for the use of a failed K&N filter. I would hope that Wix makes better products than that but still, no product is immune from failure and at least this way if a Mopar filter takes a dive, they can’t say it was because of an aftermarket filter.

You gonna do your own changes or just take it to the dealership?

I plan to do mine but if you do yours, keep you a record book for writing down as much and you can; and receipts.

Did my 1st oil change today on my 2018 Ram 1500, 3200 miles, used Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 with Fram Ultra filter. Also emptied my catch can of about an ounce of oil in it since installed with 2600 miles on it. I also used a tip of a zip lock bag over filter to minimize oil dripping, worked ok but still had some spillage.

Did my 2018 yesterday for the first time at 800 miles. Filled with Pennzoil Ultra 5W-20 ans a Fram Ultra filter. Used a quart freezer bag and spilled only a small amount of oilbut that filter location is a P.I.T.A.

Did my first oil change at 3400 miles. Went straight to Redline 5w30 and Royal Purple filter. Just had my second oil change about 9300 miles and used the same set up. Truck runs silky smooth. Will continue on the 5k-6k interval change.
