Bushwacker matte blacks are $499

I have seen some members buy a brand called tyger, they looked pretty good too, I want to say member names marshram has them and others.

Shop around just like your doing with the Bilsteins

That’s kinda my point, your on a tight budget but you know you want the Bilsteins @94ea. You could go cheap and buy a spacer kit, however you know after it’s done you would have wished you had waited and spent the money on the Bilsteins versus wasting $60 on spacers.

I'm thrifty :) yeah, that's it! I get your point though. I used to support my hobbies with photography, but I don't do that anymore, so hobby money is now taken after the bills get paid. My wife hasn't been bitten by the same bug I was.

I bought all my stuff a little at a time, just kept it in the garage for months, then once I had everything, I bolted it all up or had installed

I need some advice, my truck will be lifted in the next 10-14 days so I'm trying to gather everything I need for this transformation. I ordered a set of bushwacker painted flares in bright white but unfortunately they didn't match well, looked a couple shades "whiter" to me so I returned them. My son thinks I should put the black flares since all my trim is black including wheels etc (see pic), my wife thinks white or none at all. Other option is to have a painter try and color match, however there's no guarantee that will be a perfect match either and could get $$. I checked ebay and no one had any bright white 2500 take offs listed. Only other option is don't add flares at all which I prefer that look but don't want paint chips either.

Could someone please post pics of white Ram sports with black flares please so I can get an idea what they would look like?

I was looking at the 2500 Textured black flares 82212208 (didn't find p/n for painted or smooth).

The wheels are XD832 they are satin black and not flashy, going for more of an offroad look sorta

I thought the price was great myself.

I realized a long time ago you get what you pay for. I always try to select quality items, but find them at the best price. If I can’t afford it, I save up till I can versus going cheap, wasting my money on something I’m not satisfied with.

VERY WISE MAN!

Thanks for the DIY. Going to install my flares today.

Question for you... I see you have the sport bumper with front tow hooks installed the right way. I thought you had to flip them to work on our trucks? How did you make it work???

Thanks in advance!

I also just bought the Tyger pocket flares for my 2500. $159. + Free s&h. I think they are $128. For 1500s. Haven't installed yet but they look good so far. All SS hardware (yes, tested with a neodinium magnet, no attraction at all lol). Goes against my "buy the best and buy it once" philosophy, but I could not pay over $500. for Bush Whackers. Wack THIS! It's plastic. Will let you know how install goes. d3633c5538dcbfe4f9f6eae4ba213bad.jpg

The problem is dirt/grit gets between the rubber edge and paint and as the flare moves while driving it acts like sandpaper on your paints finish. How long or how many miles this takes varies with driving habits and environments and if you never remove your flares you may never see it or even care.

Looking at doing this in the future. Just wondering how the paint has held up using the protective film? Seems like a great method. Glad I found this post, I like those flares, think I'm going to end up getting the same ones. I like the black on Red.

It worked fine, I took them off a few months ago to clean underneath and the tape held good and flare didn’t rub thru it

Damn does a white truck look good with color matched flares!!! Now I wish I would have bought a white truck instead of black.
I just get too many light scratches and chips so dark colors look terrible after a couple years vs white that hides all that pretty well.

If you put the 3M protectant film on the truck as part of the install and add a few extra screws the paint will not be harmed especially when the truck is bathed regularly.
