Decided to get a trailer for my track car.

I had always driven my 1965 Plymouth to the track at Willow Springs to race. It was kinda cool to drive a car 2 hours, race 2 days, and then 2 hours home. But now that I have a full coilover suspension and a separate set of race wheels/tires, I really don't want to have to swap them out at the track (would require a trailer or a second vehicle anyway) and it's about a 3 hour process.

So I picked up a trailer this weekend... pretty cool.

Since I still had my five steel Cop Car Rally wheels I decided to use those for the trailer, with the extra on a spare.

In two weekends I'll be running at Willow again: March 3 & 4t.

This will be the first time in 4 years that I trailer the car to the track. It's a regular driver, with about 33k on it since I swapped in the new engine.

Nice truck, trailer and race car. Fun fact...I grew up about 6 miles from Willow Springs. Any way, good luck and be safe.

I like it! Besides it would suck having a breakdown at the track. Driving my old pickup to the racetrack always has me worried about blowing the trans while I’m racing haha

You're right, Chrisp, I was starting to get to the point where I'm pushing the car harder and with the new suspension and tires I'm definitely lowering my lap times. In six outings (with the modifications i've made) I've dropped my lap times by ten seconds.

The first pic below is when I was running a dual quad EFI. It's not a high HP engine, but did well at the track. Below that is with a single throttle body. I've installed a new intake developed by a friend, who unfortunately passed away last year. I'm writing an article about him and this particular engine with his intake ... he always wanted to see me run at Willow Springs and never made it out there, so this time around is for him.

In the shop is the new engine, a stroked 360 that will be getting some power adders. I hope to have that in the car in the next couple months.

This is really a sharp car with I can tell love involved. Sorry to hear about your friend, but know that he will always be your riding partner.

Thank you. My friend Roland and I met a few years back, and he loved the fact that I was road racing this car with the old Poly head V8. He began developing parts and kits, and put his resourced together to create the intake that I installed. He's the only person to make a new intake for this engine, Weiand stopped making one a few years back. The dual quad intake I have has sold for over $1200 on eBay.

Roland and I went back and forth on whether the Poly head can make power and he was determined to prove it. He loved what I was doing and was emulating my build, always asking to buy my performance parts when I was upgrading (my car is a magazine project car, so it's been through a few transitions). The last time Roland was in the hospital, he called me, and through a shaky voice he wanted me to put his latest engine build in my car just so he could see it running around the track "spanking Mustangs", but he passed away before he could get the engine built.

I asked his friend and wife if they'd like me to take his intake around the track and write an article, which I've half written, entitled, "Racing for Roland". He was a good man, and I wish I knew him better, but a short time and along distance kept us from getting to know each other better. I was completely honored and flattered that he wanted to use my car for testing, and that he was building a car to emulate my build.
