I've just learned to ignore it. It is funny though, i have been drag racing, and have owned old carbureted v8's since i was 16....and this truck smells worst than any of them.lol
that's probably because the ecu dump more gas in the engine to heat up those cats.

same for me, since my young age I'm around engines so I don't notice it, but my wife and kids is another story so that's why I went with catted LT

On the catless AFE y pipe, how much did it change the exhaust tone? And how much, if any, did you pick up on track times? Im thinking of just going with it for now on the stock manifolds and flowmaster that the previous owner put on it.

I'll also add that SW is true dual ready if you ever decide to go that route in the future.

Stainless WORKs is also top notch and was my second choice over ARH. At the time of my installation the ARH were a better deal. I would also have them ceramic coated inside and out no matter which you choose. Jet coat or local coater.

Don't slam me, I just don't understand this along with alot of the computer stuff. I can understand shorties to get away from warping OEM stock manifolds and broken bolts and limited performance gain. If it was me and I was going to the expense of long tubes and the tune that goes with them why wouldn't I just do a complete set of true duals?

The AFE y pipe made mine alot louder due to no cats. I had a 14" Magnaflow, deleted resonators & Moes 5" tips before & it was too quiet IMO. Once I swapped to the AFE catless y it got really loud. I then had the 14" Magnaflow swapped to an 18" Magnaflow & it got quieter but still was loud for me. I then pulled the Moes tips off & put the stock tips on & its pretty ok now. Still loud but tolerable.

I picked up about .15 in the 1/4 mile by swapping to the AFE y pipe. I'd say all that was from going catless due to I already had a Magnaflow high flow y pipe welded in place of the factory crushed y. The AFE y pipe I have was on Matt Fikac's 2017 rc before he swapped to longtubes. He picked up around a tenth in the 1/8 with it.

I personally really like the fit, finish & gain of the AFE pipe. I know longtubes will gain more but I'm not swapping to them. Here is a video of me at the track this past weekend so you can hear how it sounds. This is stock manifolds, AFE catless y, 18" Magnaflow, deleted resonators out the stock tail pipes

Sounds good! Thanks for the reply. Im probably going to go with the y pipe. Im looking for more sound. Previous owner put a flowmaster on, not sure what one, but its decently loud with no resonators. Ill probably grab some 5" tips also. Ill have to keep the catted stock ones for inspection time to past the obd2 plug in. Unless theres a "emmisions tune" like some guys over on the cherokeesrt8 have.

You can have the cel for no cats turned off in the tune. If you dont have a sniff test that will work. If you have the sniff test you will still need cats.

No sniff test here but they do plug in to the obd2 port to see if everything is "ready". Turning the o2s off will throw up a red flag. Thats why i was wondering if the tuners mentioned here on this forum had a "emmisions tune" to pass.

Before i went turbo on my jeep i had kooks with high flow cat's. It wouldnt pass i had to add anti foulers with steel wool stuffed in them and that spaced the o2 out and would pass. Then i would throw the catless back on...lol. But now, im pretty sure some of the guys that tune can do a emmisions tune.
