4 inches longer is a promblem for me and maybe others. My 2017 crew cab short box just fits in my garage, allowing me 1 inch on the front wall and 1 inch from my garage door. So that means no more RAMS in my garage after this truck.....

For what it's worth, the quad cab with long bed is unchanged (140.5 inch wheelbase).

That will make it about 233" for the crew cab short box. As far as I know that's only an inch longer than the same config GM and 2 and a bit longer than the ford. Both of which will still have longer wheelbases I believe. I barely notice the extra 9" on my crew cab standard box, but that would suck having the garage too short.

Dammit... Now there's a "5th Generation Ram"?

I told my wife the 2015 was the last vehicle I would buy, and it would be in the garage during my funeral.

How do I tell her I need a new one because.... "4th Generation" is a click below, and I refuse to move my wrist that much more, and subject myself to another carpal tunnel surgery? :p

My 2014 fits with very little to spare in my garage. Defiantly the first thing that crossed my mind when they said it was 4 inches longer.

Sent me looking at 2017 and 2018 models as my Ram is long enough now. Do Americans really want or need a truck another 4 inches in length? Contractor conspiracy!

Yep, it says 232.9 on my order sheet.

The reason I bought a 2014 regular cab was so it would fit in my garage. I traded my 2001 2500 Quad Cab that barely fit with 2 inches to spare. The new ones simply will not fit. Between the sun, bad weather and bad actors, I refuse to leave any vehicle I own outside overnight. I think there are probably a lot of others like me. Not sure I understand why Ram would build trucks they know will not fit in a standard 2 car garage.

I was happy to see the extra 4 inches. It would be great with my kids in the back as my ‘12 crew cab is getting tight. I had been toying with the idea of a mega cab but this may work out better if I can get used to the fugly grill and headlights.

You're really upset at the wrong people here. The real question is why would any builder build a garage that can't fit a lifted crew cab DRW in each bay? There's no excuse.

I can't tell you how many houses I passed up because of "standard" 19' deep garages when i had my 20.4' F150. A 19' garage doesn't even leave room for a shallow cabinet in front of my full sized car. My 28' deep garage can support the length but is still far too narrow and doesn't have the garage door height to support the lift I'd like. This is a garage problem, not a truck problem!

Does anyone know if the length of the quad cab is changing as well? And when do the 2019s go on sale? Haven't seen any around here yet. (Central NY)

I can relate to 01am2500 regarding keeping his Ram in the garage. My 97 Ram Dually has been outside all its life and the sun and UV has done significant damage on the black roof (clear coat & paint peeling) requiring repainting and having clear coat peeling from both front and rear fenders. As for the size of a garage, one can never make it too big. My 2012 Crew Cab, Long Box does fit into my garage with lots of room to spare, front and back. However, I still keep it outside and favour my car to be 'garaged' to keep my wife happy - dry in the rain and snow & ice free in the winter.

UnFortunately my house doesn't have a garage, just a driveway. That driveway can comfortably fit two cars and an F450 bucket truck though, so... No worries here.

I was just discussing this with a friend of mine. I'm not sure, but the way the press release reads it seems to be exclusively referring to the Crew Cab version.

I live in the city (Seattle) and garages/driveways can be tight. I was luck enough to rebuild my garage ~ 10 years ago, I made it a foot taller and installed an oversized door, but it never occurred to make it longer. My 2017 Laramie Crew cab fits easily height and width wise, but only lengthwise by ~ 2 inches. If I get the new truck it wont fit...though I suppose I could try to rework the entry to push the door forward a few more inches....

My current '16 1500 CC does not fit in my garage. House is very old, so garage is not very deep. In the snow up put the truck in the garage and tarp the door, it's a pain for sure. Really wish I could extend the garage, not going to be easy though, it's all cement block with a poured cement flat roof.
