How To: 13-14 premium cluster upgrade

Quick question. I saw some early posts talking about getting the nav turns to appear in the TFT cluster. I tried mine out this weekend and it shows the next road and distance text at the top of the screen (as shown in this picture from an earlier post), but it doesn't show the image with the road/arrow. The lower portion of the screen is blank.

Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this? In my old cluster with the small screen the arrow appeared. I'm not sure what is causing the issue.

I'm wondering if it is just the area I am in? It is pretty rural and I'm wondering if it maybe doesn't know which image to put up for the next maneuver? This may be completely wrong, but last night I did a little more testing and I noticed that if I was driving around near my house I got the next street and distance, but no image of which way to turn. If I made a wrong turn I did get an image when it told me to make a U-turn.

I may try to go to another area and try to do some routing to see what happens. On my small EVIC I know the maneuvers worked, but I never tried them near the house. I might also try it in on of the other vehicles that have the same radio and nav to see if they show the images near my house.

I'd like others input on this as I'm going off memory here .

As far as the TPMS goes what year premium clusters work in what year Ram's ?
This is what I remember from reading here & I'm speaking of gas clusters only .

2013 Premium clusters work in all 2013s & some early 2014s Ram's

2014 clusters work in 2014 -2016 Ram's

I'm not sure on the 2017 s

I know this for sure : I have a 14 Ram ( build date September 13th 2013 ) a 2013 cluster worked 100% in my Ram , also a 2016 cluster worked 100% in my 14 Ram ....

I'm just curious, is anyone doing this upgrade also trying to get the idle and drive time hours correct on the new cluster being installed or is everyone just doing mileage?

I've contacted United Radio and they are only able to adjust mileage. They told me the other hours info would have to be programmed into the cluster by the dealership and from what I've heard, the dealership won't touch these clusters since they didn't come with the truck.

That's simply not correct. Had both my mileage and hours updated. I used Cluster Surgeon out of PA. Not sure what he charges for his service, I made a deal with him for some other clusters I had kicking around from my Mustangs.

A lot depends on the cost. From what I've heard, United Radio is the cheapest by far compared to some of the other places.

Anyone in this thread use them and can confirm they only do mileage? Anyone hear anything different?

I am the one who originally posted about United Radio. They do not change the hours, only the mileage. For me it wasn't a big deal because even though the miles were too low on the new cluster, the hours were very close, so I wasn't concerned with having an exact match. I only cared about the miles.

Long time Ram owner but new member to the ram forum. I recently purchased a 2015 Ram 2500 CNG. Would love to do this upgrade but having a very hard time finding the correct cluster for the CNGs. Anyone know where I can find one? any input would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible to change the model info that displays when you first turn on the truck? I did the upgrade and it displays Power Wagon on my Express. I thought it was something with the cluster and bought a 2nd one and it shows Power Wagon also. Any ideas?

Mine says Power Wagon also, I don't think it can be changed.

It should. You can buy it and plug it in without driving anywhere to see if everything is working. If not, return it (if defective) or sell it again (if incompatible for some reason).

The only compatibility issue I've seen this far is TPMS compatibility for 2013 clusters with 2014+ vehicles.

For those of you who have replaced the lense/mask with the Rebel version, do you know if it's possible to remove the Rebel badge and replace it with the Ram badge? I've got a 2500 and would prefer to keep the Ram badge, but like the Rebel Red Rings.

I sure it’s in here somewhere, but does anyone know if I can put the premium cluster in my 2016 Express with the 3.0 stock head unit. And what would happen if I decided to replace this head unit with an aftermarket head unit?

Yes you could do it and I think the radio controlled functions would show up in the cluster if you removed the radio, but I'm not sure.
