Ok, I know there are other posts out there similar, but I have found none with a solution. I have a 17 1500 crew with the laramie trim. I have a rattle in the passenger dash area, that comes and goes. I have tried the following solutions with no luck:

  • Removed the blocks below the windshield.
  • Made sure the jack was secure, and even removed the cover, with no improvement.
  • The grab handle was loose. Completely removed the A pillar, removed a plastic clip that was loose, then re-installed the handle, with it firmly tightened.
  • Under the passenger dash, there is an electrical box. Cover was loose (terrible design). Reattached it and made sure it was secure.
  • Lower HVAC vent was also loose. Secured it.
  • Removed everything from the glove boxes, and have made sure they are not the rattle.
The rattle continues. I have taken it to the dealer, but the rattle never happens then. Does anyone know of another solution?

Find a new dealer. Your too new to tear into it yourself, let warranty/dealer fix it.

I know its irritating. I started having what sounds like windshield popping when truck flexes, on roads, etc. Only started this cold winter. Have until July for my dealer to check.

Well i realize that would be the easy solution if the dealer was able to hear the sound. It never does it when they test drive it. I am asking if anyone else has a possible fix, or know of the cause? That way i have an idea of where to look, or a suggestion to the dealer as to where it is coming from.

It is possible for something on the other side of the firewall, in the engine compartment that could be the culprit.

Mine was where the dash met the A pillar on the passenger side. I put a paper envelope in between them to test it. I did buy some 3m felt tape but never got around to it. So I've been driving around with the envelope stuffed in there for a month now. For what its worth... it took me 3 months to find that noise.

Yesterday the center compartment started making a rattle. Off to the races again to figure that one out.
