Infotainment.com has a pretty awesome upgrade for your radio to convert it to the Android Auto / Apple Carplay.

Can anyone comment on the full functionality of this unit in a 13-17 Ram? I know these are in the 2018's but I just want to make sure everything is still functionable swapping out from my 2015 8.4.

Here's a link to the site and YouTube.

I plan on getting the same one to replace my 5.2 in my 2015 Express. Just give them a call that is what I did it should work fine especially if you already have an 8.4 with the climate controls you might be able to trade in your existing deck to lower the price of your purchase. I really like the
apple CarPlay feature myself so hope to do this sometime soon.

I ordered one and should be here tomorrow. I am going from a 5.0 and they said they would buy it from me.
I will post when I get it installed.

for 1300 you can get an aftermarket that will give you 10x better sound and adjustability with carplay android.

You can do it for less than that.... still doesn't flow right in the dash though IMO.

I’m probably swapping out my 8.4AN for a Kenwood 9904 or 9905. My AnyConnect unit is incredibly slow when doing simple things like changing tracks on my iPhone 8+.

I demoed the Kenwood on Saturday and it was almost instant. Here’s hoping it works as well once it gets installed with the iDatalink Maestro.

I hate factory navigation. I subscribe to Uconnect and Sirius. It would cost me $1600.00 plus lose all are part of my 3 year subscriptions to sirus and travellink then would have to roll to a sirusguardian subscription.
You would think Dodge would offer us something to upgrade.
I would constantly have to run WAZE and Nav through Houston to bypass traffic. Android auto would be so freaking nice.
Just not worth the cost

On my 2005 1500, I installed a custom self made head unit mount (so it looked factory) and installed the king of all aftermarket head units (at the time, it was a bad ass unit), the Pioneer Avic F90BT. It was a sick unit in that truck.

The issue I have now with the after market units is it not looking stock. I like keeping the look of factory finishes. I'm sure there is a lot more better Android / Apple head units that would work better than the Uconnect 4C, but I really like the look of the dash with the stock screen.

Do you guys know if if I purchased the 4C from infotainment if we would receive updates OTA, if FCA ever does any?

and if you think the unconnect access subscription is overpriced (it is at $150) you won't want sirius guardian then ($250)

C'mon... it's that much for a 1 year subscription. Freaking crazy. I don't know why their radio subscription is so high too! The mailers I get (like once a week) are not a bad price at $50 for 6 months. But having to call every six months to negotiate the price is a hassle to me.

For $1300, u can spend less then $500 and just go aftermarket yeah you’ll loose a little screen size but for the price difference it’s a no brainer.

You can probably get it for half that. If you pay full price for Sirius, you are part of the problem lol.

Correct, SiriusXM even told me they had no specials now! Okay bye felicia. Within 24 hours they called back what can we do to keep you.

How does Ford work their system? The traffic and weather part. Is that good for the life of the truck? Or is it a subscription. My buddy let his sirius go but he still has weather and traffic corrections. He swears he isn't paying anything.

now don't confuse sirius radio and travel link with sirius guardian. Very different services (the sirius guardian is more of a unconnect service than it is a Sirius Service)

I bought a 2015 8.4AN and put it in my 2013 with 8.4A, the siriux/xm says activated on it under everything, but only intro station works. Is there any way to get it working since I am not original subscriber?

Sirius music was free for one year on my new 18. The travel link and weather is good for 3 years I think. Guardian is also free for 1 year.

Guardian will not work if you swap in a 2018 radio into any other year vehicle. Same as if you went from a 3.0/5.0 to a 8.4 and try to get Uconnect Access working.

I will post when I get it installed.

Look forward to your report! Like others I want to keep the factory look even if Alpine or Kenwood have some better audio options. If you already have an 8.4 and just want carplay may not be worth it but moving from a 5.0 unit I think it's totally worth it especially if they will buy your existing unit to help discount it some. I will be interested to hear how the install goes. Good luck!

They said they will give me $400 for my 8.4 NAV unit. Wonder what they go for on here.
