I see these $50 intakes on ebay and I wonder who has them. Is the intake piping 3.5in and mount to the stock airbox bottom like the afe ones do. If you have one post pics of how they actually look installed. I am interested in the fact of using the smooth tubing to replace the stock baffle tubing for better air flow from these cheap kits. If you use this kit do u really see a difference.

My buddy just installed this exact same one and it fits to the factory bottom air box. It looks identical to my spectre intake. Riding in his truck his gives a nice deep acceleration growl.

I’m sure it probably works about the same although I’m sure that metal probably holds a lot more heat than the plastic version does.

Just remember, or don't expect too much. The days of dropping a CAI in and making gains is almost gone with computers. You'll need a programmer to adjust for the extra air to actually do anything. But will improve the sound.

Hell, if I can find just a smooth tube I would be happy, I don’t really need any of the rest of that.

Does anyone know the inside diameter of OEM “ribbed” intake tube?

i purchased a setup from above to modify. Not too concerned about the heat isssue as that can be addressed with some gold heat wrap

Yeah, a kit like this runs round $60 on EBay. I might consider it to hack up and play with and the go from there.

I looked at a bunch of the cheapo “universal” intakes (Spectre knock-offs) and all the inside diameter of the piping ranges from 3 3/8 to 3 1/2 inches. Upon further research and investigation, OEM tubes and aftermarket (S&B, Volant, AirAid, etc) use at or around 4” inside diameter tubing. I’m thinking of piecing together some silicone couplers (90* and 45*) and a length of aluminum tubing still that the inside diameter maintains a 4” ID from airbox to TB. I should be able to pull it off for around $50. I’ll get on it tomorrow.

Got the eBay intake in and installed snug fit IAT sensor is tight fit pipe was cold to the touch in cool weather. Build quality is better than expected

I also ordered the $50 EBay intake. I plan on installing later today. Did you notice any changes in performance and sound with exhaust? I’m hoping it will help my 18” Magnaflow breath even better.

I’m piecing 3.5/4” silicone (90* & 45*) and 12” of aluminum pipe to the stock air box and see how that goes. All told $40 for all including the (4x) clamps.

I also got a 3” Spectre duct piece to cut and drill into the bottom of the stock air box and run some more tubing towards the front bumper.

Will get parts on or around the 8th and will update how it looks and works. Although anything would lookand work most likely better than the ribbed OEM tube.

Installed mine last night. I must say for $50 I was very impressed with the overall quality of it. Installation went fairly easy except for the IAT sensor = TIGH! I love the sound of it, compliments my Magnaflow exhaust nicely! And I don’t know if it’s a placebo effect but it does seem to have given the Hemi some extra “umph” on WOT. Definitely worth the $50 to me!

Just curious, what was the inside diameter on the intake tube?

3.25-3.5” I presume?

What's up Jutice(electrichemi)

I think I was one of the first to get the spectre intake. Of course I gotta lot hate about it because everyone rides the Vararam and S&B jock. Which they are good, Vararam has proven some gains in HP.

But this is not a race truck so I wanted something cheap. I've had mine for about 3 years now and it's fine.

Funny thing is spectre is owned by K&N and I wonder if they know about these ebay intakes. Somebody must have just bought a spectre and copied it. lol
