So my 2014 Ram 1500 so far has a leveling kit, new tires, new shocks and nerf bars. The next upgrade I want to do is a tonneau. I want a cover that is more secure than a vinyl cover so I can leave my hunting stuff in the bed overnight as opposed to having to put it in the back seat and risk tearing the seats.

I think I want a hard roll up cover because it should be more secure and when fully rolled up I have full access to the bed as well as not blocking the rear window.

There seems to be only 4 and two of them are from BAK. The only difference from what I read is the new X$ is matte finish instead or shineyer? Then Gator makes one and from what I have read is the least expensive but I think I read they are made by the same company as BAK? Then finally the Truxedo Titanium.

What is anyone that has used these experiences? What are the pro's and cons of this style tonneau and for what my stated needs are is there another cover that you would recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Very happy with the Bak Roll-X on my 13 ram 1500. Had it for 4 years now. The Revolver-X is the newer version where they fixed a couple of minor design issues and is better for it.
It's light enough that I can install/remove it myself and with some adjustment keeps 98% of the water/rain out. I like being able to unlock/open/close the tailgate without having to open the cover. It's not 100% secure but it's solid enough for most ( there are ways to 'Jimmy' it open for a motivated individual).

Only thing that happened with mine so far is the adhesive holding the felt on underneath finally wore out and I ended up just cutting off the felt that was hanging down. No one would be the wiser anyway.

PS: forum vendor Toneau Factory outlet (poc: Morrie ) can get you a forum discount and is where I got mine from. He's excellent to work with.

I have the Bak Revolver X2 on my 2017 Ram Express crew cab with 5'7" bed. Installed it myself in just over an hour. I did need a second set of hands to hold the rails straight while I tightened the clamps (as suggested in the instructions). I really like it. It's secure, very low profile, easy to open, allows full bed access, and I can open and close the tailgate with the cover latched in place. I've never had a tonneau cover before, so I have nothing to compare it to. I've heard that it can be difficult to roll up in wet, freezing conditions, and I can certainly see how that would be the case.
