So twice this has happened, rolling about 25 and bury the pedal pulls hard but then first shift to next gear no go revs up and and nothing as soon as rpms drop she is good to go. If launch from stop no problems as of yet. Have hemifever tune for trinity. Is it the tune never had this problem before. I am not making that much hp where the trans would give. 52k on the odometer 15 ram Express with 5.7l and 8spd. Any suggestions?

Sticky clutch packs, change the oil? It would be rare I will say, the 2017 has real quality oil. Try it in tow haul mode, still does it?

This may be a silly question, I know the trans stuff is dealer only hence no dipstick. Is this something I could do myself or should I take her in?

Yeah, there is youtubes on 8 speed, sean's eco diesel channel is damn good. Often shows metal in tranny if you are hard on pedal. I wouldn't listen to him on fluid though, put PAO back. Why don't you want the dealer to look at it, it is still under warranty?

this one.

I need to take it in for recall still but have to switch ecu out for stock one and was wanting to get some sales codes updated. I see a lot of stuff of people taking them in and have more issues afterwards. With fluid filter change.

You mean issues with a dealer oil change? That is because many use flush machines like fools. But I'm talking about taking it for the tranny problem. If they change the filter, that wouldn't be the flush machine, if it there was an issue, they would be responsible for it.

I got ya. Thanks. I was gonna remove the tune to see if still happens. Then I guess go from there.

If you put the stock tune back on the truck does it do the same thing? If not you know its not a mechanical issue and simply a tuning issue. Don't forget tuning the 8 speed is relatively new. Either way I would let Sean know...

I agree with others. I wouldn't take it in till I talked to Sean. He responds pretty fast. Do you have a trans tune in addition to your custom tune?

My 2014 truck use to have a weird 2-3 shift that almost felt like it was slipping under light throttle and I talked to Sean and he sent me a new tune and it was night and day better and totally fixed the problem. Hopefully it is easy as getting an update tune from him.

So went back to stock. No slipping. Gonna give her hell after work to be sure and then load hemifever tune back in and log a couple launches and see if she slips.

Sounds like it's a tuning issue. Interested to see what Sean has to say...

Got the hemifever tune loaded back in for some fun tomorrow. Will keep you guys updated. Got some 0 to 60 times with stock tune loaded, first was 6.11 sec and 2nd was 6.03 sec. See how those look with hf tune in.

Those are really good times for a stock tune? What else is done to your truck and what gears u running. How did you get those numbers.

90mm throttle body, vararam, 180 thermostat, flowmaster directfit not outlaw; I have kids lol that's it. I was surprised too hooked up well for open diff. Gears I believe are 3.21. The 305 45 22 really grip well. The best 0 to 60 I got with hf tune was 5.49 sec.

Nice that is pretty good. I have 3.92 so I always have to leave in 4 auto which takes some time off my truck.
