Well I did it. I went and bought a brand new ram 1500 today. I was getting tired of putting up with my 20 year old f250 so I started shopping around. I feel i got a really good deal and figured I would try to start a thread on how my truck holds up over the long term.

I put about 100 miles on it today and love it so far. It rides great and with the 3.21 gearing and 8 speed transmission it seems like the rpms are always low even when I’m on the small to mid size hills around here. Averaged about 19 after my ride today. Mostly highway with a little bit of city driving through pittsburgh. I didn’t push the truck at all today and stayed around 60-65 on the highway. I wanted to take it easy while breaking the truck in. I know the 5.7 has a ton of power and I can’t wait to play with it a bit.

My truck is a 4wd quad cab with the 6’5 bed. It’s bright white and i guess it’s an st? I was a little confused with the st/express trim. The only things I am going to add is the factory trailer brake and a trifold tonneau cover. I was quoted around 430 to have it installed. I’ll probably update this thread next weekend when I put some miles on the truck.

Someone asked for a pic of the truck so I took a quick one when I finished splitting wood today. Almost 200 miles already!

Just a quick update, we got hammered by snow up here in PA today. I have to drive an hour each way to school and back and the truck handled it fine.

Of course i slowed down a lot and used the 4wd more than i normally would. The roads weren’t touched when I left and there’s something about a new truck that makes me more cautious when driving in bad weather.

I put about 400 miles on the truck already and I’m still getting around 19mpg. Very impressed especially with the use of 4wd and letting it warm up for a bit before I take off.

I’m hoping to haul my first load of fire wood in my new truck this weekend. Looking forward to seeing how it handles the load since it doesn’t have leaf springs and I might tow a load of firewood behind me. It’s mostly ash so it’ll be heavy but I think it’ll handle it fine.

I have about 2500 miles on the truck so far, I’m actually getting great fuel economy. It’s averaging 22.4 right now. That’s going off of the mpg display but I’ve also hand jammed it. The reading is very close to the actual numbers. Most of my driving is highway.

I’ve hauled a good bit of drywall and matierial and the truck never knew it was there. It barely squat with 800 pounds in the bed.

The only problem I’ve had was one my back up camera didn’t work one morning. It came back on when I stopped at the store so idk why it didn’t work when I left my house. It’s been working ever since.

Just keeping the thread updated as promised. Took my first road trip last week for work and averaged 25.3mpg over 560 miles! Love this truck and couldn’t ask for more.

4500 miles already and just had my first oil change last weekend. Dealership says to change it every 5000 miles but the manual says go by the Olm. I’ll probably stick to the 5k mile rule during my warranty so they have no reason to deny me if something happened.
