Owned 2017 1500 sport for about a year now. Joined to find info on maintaining and caring for the vehicle so I get the most years I can out of 'Er. Most interested in whether I should get a cold air intake to let the engine breathe a bit. Thoughts?

Welcome! CAI talk is subjective. Its more about looks overall...but I have noticed a nice seat of the pants boost around 3K RPM's when my Hemi opens up...but maybe its just me :)

Some like CAIntakes...some say don't bother. Its personal preference. I have the S&B intake myself...love it!

Hello and welcome.
In my opinion Just add a 3" flexible tube to the factory cold air box for more air and save the money of a cai
I did on my 17 and it feels,( butt dyno), it pulls longer on opening it up.

Nice. I heard a tank of fuel, I have gas, but diesel as well can last a third longer too.

Welcome from Maryland. As others have said the CAI debate is personal choice. I have the K&N system on my 17, it was on my 14 as well. My truck runs well and I love the sound of air being sucked into my engine as I accelerate.

Welcome to RamForum.

I usually add a cold air intake to all my vehicles. I don't expect a huge increase in power but what I do get is better throttle response which is always good.

With more air in I end up doing the exhaust to get more air out. Then, I want to get a programmer to manage that air increase, spark and fuel.

Point being...be careful. One mod leads to another to another, etc...and soon your bank account is empty. :D

Go S&B or get a drop in filter. Your ram already has CAI stock and without a tune your just doing it for a little more sound.
