Paid a local shop (way too much) to install a body lift on my truck and it turned into a giant fiasco.... They installed a Zone 1.5" kit to my truck that already has a 6" Pro Comp suspension lift. While it was there, I also had them install new Fox rear shocks and re-balance my tires. They had the truck for 3 days....which to me seemed ridiculous to start with. It wasn't the tire balance or shocks that made it 3 days....they initially said 3 days just for the body lift.
Anyway, picked the truck up and didn't realize they screwed up a few things. I don't drive it everyday, so when I got it back it was parked for a day or two. Then, I realized the rear bumper was not aligned correctly. The passenger side looked OK, but was real close to the body. The drivers side was all out of whack. The side angle of the bumper didn't match the body lines on the side of the truck and it was way further away from the side of the truck....a couple fingers could fit between the bumper and the body, where on the passenger side, I couldn't get a finger in there. The place that did the install is about an hour away, so I called them and told them about the rear bumper, but said it would be easier for me to just fix it myself. Spent an hour or so removing the spare tire, loosening the bumper bolts and trying to get it aligned correctly. Ended up adding 4 washers between the new brackets and the bumper to get it to look pretty good....still slightly more space on the drivers side....but not noticeable. When I dropped the truck off for the work, I asked them to paint any of the rear bumper parts that were being cut or ground down. Their answer was "you don't even need to ask...we always do that". Well, guess they don't "always" do it. They never painted anything and now I have shiny ground down metal that needs to be painted black before it rusts.
Now things get worse though.... When re-aligning the rear bumper, I realized they put a large chip in the paint on the very bottom of my tailgate. Now....I'm really pissed. I just spent 4 hours cleaning the outside of my truck before I dropped it off. I know every mark on the truck and know it wasn't there. The truck is as close to perfect condition as you can get. I park the truck and take one of the cars to work the next day, thinking I would talk to the owner about the problems, but never did get him on the phone. The following day, I took the truck to work. On the way home, I get a turn signal bulb out on my dash... then it went off. When I stopped, I turned on the turn signals and looked at the front of the truck to find out my projector headlights and the high beam bulbs were flashing like a turn signal. Unbelievable....they screwed up plugging the lights back together too! Now, I need to pull the grill off and remove the headlights to fix it.
Never again do I drop of any of my cars for work.... it's too hard to find a professional place that doesn't damage things and can do the job correctly!!
