about to order my CAI and ported TB from moes. my question is I really like the look and performance of the vararam but am kind of worried about rain and such getting sucked into the filter by the design. I know it probably functions better. But the rain issue is what is leaning me towards the S&B anyone have any real world experience with the vararam in rain conditions it rains here a lot.

I've had my Vararam on for a year straight now, before that I would switch it out in the winter for the stock filter. It was on through rain and snow, through the car wash and puddles without issue. I really would only switch it out now if there was supposed to be a heavy snow storm, or during torrential downpours with heavy winds. Otherwise you don't have to worry.

Had my vararam on during insane snow and rain storms... Looked at it the first few times to ensure there wasn't any water getting in... Zero amount each time.

How much better performance would you get pairing up the vararam with the 87mm throttle body? I want to get a vararam but can’t justify the price on purchasing both right now.

I did just that with the 87mm fastman TB. Don't know what the gains are separate since I put them both on together. Def snappier acceleration

They are both just pieces of the complete "picture". Each mod you do will enhance the performance of your truck. Some mods, such as a custom tune, gears, torque converter, nitrous, headers, a supercharger or turbocharger will give you instant significant changes while others, such as throttle body, CAI, freer flowing exhaust, individually won't be as dramatic a change but still do their part in the overall increased performance of your truck.
