hi,
I own a PW 2017 with a hemi 6.4 with 21000km, it is still under warranti.
What I am looking for are mods that would make me save on gas, I live in the mountain and my gas mileage is horrible. i don't tow often.
I was wonderign if a CAI / exhaust / chip would make a difference and with it void my warranti?
Thank you

I hate to break it to you but "Hemi" and "gas saving" are words that don't mix well on this 2500 platform. If you're worried about mileage, you might think about buying a more practical commuter car. Remember, nothing is going to make a 7-8K lb PW move more efficiently. This is just reality.

^^^^^^^^ I hauled some stuff to the dump the other day, and my truck came across the scales at almost 7,300 lbs empty, with a full tank, and me in it. That's about what my '05 with Cummins weighed! I know the crew cab will add some weight versus the old quad cab, but I was surprised how heavy she is with a small-block gas motor.

I know i will be limited with the fuel saving, but what mod could help. I am a hunting/fishing guide so i need this truck but so far it's 800-1000(canadian)$ month.

A Cai and exhaust will do nothing to improve your mpg. If any mods would increase the mpg, the factory would already have added them.

I have changed the muffler, added a S&B CAI, and a pedal commander no change in fuel economy

the PW is a very heavy, gas loving pig, I'm happy with squeezing 13-14 mpg out of her

Thank you

1st- get a Solo Exhaust Delete kit.
2nd- yes a CAI would go great with the Solo.
3rd- And most importantly... It’s a Power Wagon. If fuel mileage is super important you bought the wrong truck.

Neither #1-2 will void your warranty!

^^^^ this exactly

on another note... the warmer weather is here and my average fuel economy is staying over 22MPG (city) without trying
:-D

Not in a 2500/3500 HD truck

yeah I know it's not in a HD truck, it is a CCLB 4X4 w/3.92 EcoD though. You did mention he bought the wrong truck for fuel economy
:-D
(and no I didn't buy it for the fuel economy)

Not sure what terrain you are on when being a guide, but if you can get by with street tires, less aggressive, you might pick up 1 or 2 mpg. Not sure in your line of work if this is an option. I suspect not.

If mileage is a concern I would look around for something more fuel efficient. A Ram Rebel 3.6 1500, or even a Colorado 3.6L ZR2 would easily save $200 a month on fuel based on $1K/month for the PW without giving up much capability.

As said, mods cost money and you won't see a return on any fuel savings. Most mods are performance enhancing only. If you're on trails regularly you want 4wd with the smallest engine possible so as to use the least amount of fuel, especially if towing is not a concern. Jeep's latest Wrangler has an available 2.0L turbo may even cut your fuel bill nearly in half to what it is now. Of course, it's no 'truck' but depending on what you can compromise on it might be all you need (toss on a roof rack).

I'm not saying sell the PW, but if you're not utilizing it's full capability there are lower cost options that you can run reliably at a lower price point, especially operating cost.

The only thing you can do to try to get maybe, 1% better mileage is switch the engine oil and gear oil to full synthetic fluids. Full synthetic won't add HP but it'll reduce the friction that is lost versus running conventional oils. It is truly the best 'mod' out there for the price. If you change your oil based on mileage instead of engine hours, synthetic is the way to go.

Yep, they are heavy. Power Wagon will be even heavier than a Tradesman.

As everyone else has said, there is not really anything you can do. Some mods like swapping tires, tune, etc will get you some improvement but that will mainly be on lengths of flat ground. The 6.4 HD and hills are not a good combination. Hills will instantly take your MPG down to pretty much nothing in these trucks, no matter what mods you have. So if the majority of your driving is hills, you would be better off putting the money you’d spend on mods towards gas or a new vehicle. The cost of tires, PCM and other things add up real quick.

IMO the real question: is it better financially to pay the gas or to trade to a more fuel efficient vehicle.
