My BIL owns south eastern machinery. If you ever need welding or something made. They are really good.

you said you had the rear end replaced, what gears are you running, you can always try some different gears for some more torque, i know a lot of performance guys running 4.56 gears, my 3/4 ton HD is low geared as hell and while it runs some high RPMs at higher speeds, it is a torque monster...

4.56 seems to be a pretty popular choice. I've had a few people recommended. I'm assuming my guy went stock, though. It's a new assembly from Jasper is all I was really told about it.

My spider gear had busted teeth. Apparently the manufacturers went from using shims to a procedure where it's heated, built, then shrinks when cooled.. and that seems to me like more room for error as I've been told this model is notorious for rear end trouble. I was recommended swapping out the assembly that uses clips for something like Detroit locker, as well.

It's worked perfectly for the last 100k miles, but the last diff fluid change I noticed there may be a little wear going on.. which worries me. The more wear that takes place, the more rapidly it will continue to wear until it starts busting teeth again.

I think I may go for a 4.56 ratio when it gets closer to time for rebuilding maybe.

Another thing I noticed, and I may be mistaken, is that there is no housing (bearing) to help support the driveshaft. Not positive if my model has or can have it, but I can't imagine with such length why it wouldn't to help prevent wear or play at the ujoint.. or spindle wear at the transmission?

Today I spent about 4 hours sanding my headlights down and re-applying a clearcoat onto them, the lenses are a bit fuzzy but definitely MUCH better than they were before

IMG_1033.JPG

Also while I was at it, I replaced the washers and bolts holding my tailgate spoiler in place. 2 of the washers had already rusted off, and 1 washer had warped around the screw due to heat. I'm trying to decide if I like the look of the more noticeable chrome bolts I had to buy because of AutoZone's very limited selection of bolts

IMG_1022_2.jpg

I would've cropped these to be smaller but I'm clueless as to how lol

nice truck, its headed in the right direction, on the headlights, wet sand them with 2000 grit sandpaper and then polish them, that will help take away the haze, ill assume you used a rattle can clear coat huh?

The pictures definitely helped me hide the dirt :D I cleaned it saturday night, then about midnight that night I had to fly over to a friends house quickly due to an emergency, so it has about as much dust as would be expected when you're driving 70 mph down dirt roads (definitely not a good idea lol) and i guess while I was out there some bird decided to take a dump next to the drivers side taillight. Not exactly a good day lmao. The bolts I think are growing on me, or maybe I'm just to lazy to do something about it, i guess we'll never know lol

Thank yah, and yeah I used that rustoleum spray-on clearcoat paint stuff, hopefully it will stay on better than the clearcoat that was peeling on me 3 months after I bought the lights. Anyways I might hit it with the sandpaper and a polish today since it's at least not 90 degrees with the sun beating down

In other news, I hit 129k today

to be honest you could actually just sand and polish the headlights and never have to worry about clearing them, just keep em waxed and they wont yellow

thats what i did to the headlights im currently running...

That looks great! Thats exactly where my clearcoat was peeling off

What did you use to polish them if you don't mind me asking?

For that, i use professional polishes, but for something like that the $20 polisher and some mothers polishing compound would do similar results
