Hello,

How do I keep cargo from sliding around in the bed of my new ordered truck when I put it into service? I will be carrying power washing equipment which is heavy and where I live we have steep hills. I am going to get the bed Linexed by a local dealer which will protect the bed, but I don’t want things sliding around. I like the Ram Box, but not sure if I want to lose the bed room. The tie downs it comes with would be nice and locking boxes, but just not sure about loss of room and honestly don’t like the look on each side. However it does come with the locking divider which would accomplish the securing cargo goal. If you have a Ram Box - is it a game changer and if you don’t how do you keep cargo secured and prevent sliding around in your Ram truck bed?

The bed has tiedowns in all corners but that doesn’t seem to be enough for portable power washers.

Thanks,

Mark

I have always used a 1/2" rubber bed mat. Most of what we carry in the bed for camping will not slide. I added a couple tie downs inside the bed. The camp stove has a vinyl carry case and it will slide on the rubber mat. Bunge to tie down stops that.

A rubber matt is a great investment like was said, I have always had one in my trucks.

You could also use a mat from a farm n feed store (Tractor Supply) it’s for horses to help keep their hooves dry and help keep them from sliding around while in their stalls. They’re not expensive at all.
If it’ll keep a 2500 lbs horse safe it would most likely work for you.

That would certainly work and stall mats are relatively inexpensive if you find them on sale etc. However, they are really dense and heavy, where I believe mats like the DeeZee are a good bit lighter.

My welded skeleton around the wheel well let's me tuck things like long breaker bars, levels and jack handles on the side and have them stay there so would be great for washer wands. Gives me lots of tie down points as well, which you'd want to keep them from rolling around. Only cost me 75 in steel for both sides and took 3 hours to cut, weld and install if you have a welder and know how to use it. Also sturdy enough to lock your washers to if you're in a sketchy neighborhood. I use them to lock up my mountain bikes so I can grab lunch on the way home without losing them.

That is an awesome idea!! I don’t weld but know a guy who can do anything out of metal. Thanks for the great information. Do you recommend doing something like this before or after Linex?

I have the 18$ adjustable bar That roadRambler posted and like it alot :) I haul 5gal buckets of Hydraulic fluid alot and does help with the sliding issues, The bed liner or mats will also help ! D.O.T. also want NO unsecured loads in a truck bed ! So if a item is unsecured and flies out and hits someone your ass can be hung out to dry! Plus being in a buisness changes some laws, so I would double check D.O.T. Rules to cover your butt!
Just like with sex if your load is not secured your may get a surprise that will cost you forever :O lol

I did mine after and just sprayed them with rattlecan bedliner before I bolted them in. If you had them pre-built you could get the lin-X guys to spray them while they're out. Then if you wanted to move them to a new truck there wouldn't be a bare patch.

I repainted and transferred that set from my old truck. Just used new stainless hardware to bolt it back in and some plastic plugs in the bed that I relinered over to close up the holes in the old truck.

Good quality toolbox. Tie downs and a cable and lock for anything you keep in there and don’t want stolen. But that’s just me

I took t bed mat from my 97 dually, and cut it down to fit my 1500 using a cut off wheel.

It doesn't cover 100% of the floor of the bed, but it covers 98% of it. The part it doesn't cover is out at the sides & not where a sliding load would be an issue anyway.

For free, it works awesome, and nothing slides around in the bed anymore.

I also have an adjustable bar to use when the items are round or don't have a flat bottom.

I need to get off my butt and install my bed rug tho.....

I just use a bed extender flipped the opposite way.
I have one of those too to keep stuff close to the tailgate, but for pressure washer I think it would be in the way unless you need the extra box length
