Hey All,
I have a new set of rims / tires that after three balances (including a road force) continue to have balance issues. The road force balance tech seemed to think that they balanced out fine on the machine, but at around 40-45mph, then again at 60+mph I get a bounce in the seat and a bit of steering wheel wobble. It started the day I pulled my stock tires (which are sold now) and installed these. Initially the second shop I took it to found that the hub clips were still on and pulled them off, but it still has issues. I know there are other possible reasons that the problem is there and I do suspect the cheap tires I have (although the road force balance tech seemed to think they were fine), but I am specifically looking for other peep's experience with hub centric rings before I look for new tires. I searched and read a few threads other's had written, but thought I'd start a new one specifically for experiences with hub rings.

Thanks!!

It is a common issue. I have it too. Been through four sets of tires and have had the same problem with all of them. I just basically live with it now.

I had to get the rings with my moto metal wheels and it took care of the problem. My hostle wheels do not need them.

your trucks center bore is 121.3 mm so maybe you could use them

what brand/model/size tires are these?

Yah, I would need 121.3 ID/130.81 OD rings. The tires are 35x12.5x20 RoadCruza RA3200's. I believe made in the same plant as Comforsers. Not a high end tire, but they seem to be wearing well, have decent traction and overall feel good on the road so I don't want to give up on them until I'm sure it's not the something else. I couldn't find a lot of info on them but from what I was able to glean off the internet, it looks like they're sold in Canada/Europe/Australia and only a few places here in the states. They were about half the price of the next least expensive so I'm giving them a shot. Tires in Alaska (especially 35's") are priced like they're made of gold....

I have a set of polycarbonate (plastic & glass) rings on order. It'll be a while before I can get them installed due to my crazy work schedule, but thought I'd pass on what the gal at Prestige Wheel mentioned. I initially wanted aluminum rings, but she said that they were having issues with aluminum rings corroding between the dissimilar metals (alloy rims and steel hubs) and when people were getting flat tires, their wheels were basically fused to the hub so they ended up having to get it towed somewhere to have the wheel removed. They won't even sell aluminum anymore... Sounds plausible to me so polycarbonate it is.... When I do get them installed in about 8 weeks I will get back and let everyone know what the results are.

Had that happen on our Expedition the other day. Pulled a nail out in the driveway and of course it went all the way in. Had to air the tire back up and beat the **** out of it with a sledge hammer to get it off. Stock aluminum wheels too.

Tons of people here with Bora aluminum spacers with zero issues

http://www.motorsport-tech.com/bora.html

Just passing on what she said.... I did do a google search after she said that (for a sanity check) and found a **** load of sites/forums/sellers all referencing corrosion problems with aluminum hub rings so it's not just her word. Those Bora spacers you show are anodized so I'm sure that helps. Probably anodized rings would work better as well.

That’s why I buy hubcentric wheels with exposed lugs so I don’t have those concerns
