I have a set of Weathertech Floormats and cant clean them. They seemed to be "stained" from winter salt and mud and cant get them cleaned...any suggestions for getting them back to be clean and black.

Almost bought Weathertech, but got Husky Weatherbeater instead — love them. They clean up nice with a simple power wash.

Mark I had he same issue with my Weathertech mats. They last for ever. As you know they are made of a hard rubber/plastic material. Mine curled at the edges over time. Could not get them as clean as we like. Put the Husky mats in, none of those problems, so far. They clean up like new with soap and water.

might try some simple green on the weather tech. I have them but haven't devoted time to getting them extra clean.

I'd try a Simple Green or Purple Power... and even some Dawn dish soap, let it sit and soak then scrub with a brush. That combo may help 'lift' the stains.

I have the WTs too... and like them. Only had them for about 2 months so far... so I'm sure I'll see this issue after they go thru a winter. I spray them up with Armor All from time to time as well... may help 'protect' them from staining as much.

Hope this helps. :)

With some products, if you spray them to enhance the look, you will find that they get real slick. The "boss" has yelled at me a couple of times for doing that. Her feet slip on the mat when she tries to get into the truck.

Agreed. I mistakenly sprayed a bit of Armor All on the brake pedal once... that was, well, a close call pulling into the garage.

AA doesn't seem to make the WTs slick (atleast mine), and they do enhance the look... so I'll go with that. A gentle cleaning with soap/water will help reduce the slickness too.

I just cleaned mine for the first time in about a year. Scrubbed the hell out of em first with Dawn and water and again with an apc. Put some Chem guys VRP on lastly, they got a little slick but they looked like new. After a few days the slickness wears off.

I just cleaned mine tonight with Simple Green, scrubbed them with a scrub brush, them rinsed them off. I finished them up by spraying some Chemical Guys Leather detailer on them and wiping them with a microfiber. They look GREAT and they are not overly slick either...

I have used Bleche-White sold by Black Magic. ( Formerly was sold by Westleys )
I have been using this product for many years on my tires and since having the Weathertech mats, which get very dirty, been spraying it on the mats too.
Does take a little scrubbing though.

I have Weather-Techs in my car since, after one winter they look terrible, and the stains do seem to set. Especially salt. My winter mats for my Ram will be Huskys. I'll give them a try.

they will never look like new again, but give Adams Tire and rubber cleaner a try(definitely scrub with a brush)

I scrubbed mine down with Dawn dish soap and a stiff nylon brush, then put a vinyl dressing on it and left it on overnight. I just buffed off what was left on them. They look great. I haven't checked how slippery they are though.

You can take a heatgun to the edges and pull them back into place. I had to do that when I soundproofed the floor (3 different Dynamat layers adding close to 1" in total height under the rug).

I do this from time to time and use the green side of a Scotchbright. As for getting them shiny, use at your own peril, but I have used @AdamsPolishes VRT heavily overnight, then come back in and wipe it all down with clean cloths, followed by @AdamsPolishes Interior Detail Spray. The detail spray seems to "Lock in" the VRT and pull away some of its slippery elements, leaving the mats near-new looking.

the product I used is an older one- Wizards vinyl shine. It says non-greasy, but there's a little bit of slickness on the mat.

Got the Superior Rubber Dressing. Excellent product. No silicone is the key. Thanks
