If the autopark feature is voluntary can I have it disabled on my truck? Aggrivating as hell at times.

Since this was launched as a recall I do not believe it is voluntary. This feature doesn't bother me, but if it did I would just plug a dummy buckle into the seat belt receiver. The auto park feature needs to see the door open, brake not applied, and seat belt unbuckled.

I have Auto-Lock working on mine, found it by accident when I engaged the ebrake and got out with it in drive, to check something. Auto-Lock was not brought up during the sales phase or delivery phase.

My 2017 doesn’t do this. I just got the recall to go in and get it done. Sometimes I like to have door open when on a tricky boat launch. So I’m hesitant to get this recall done

Not like you have a choice...when I take my truck in, they do the updates without even asking.

I got the notice on my 17, it's not technically a recall, something about customer satisfaction update ( I think I got their terminology right) . Either way I'm perfectly satisfied without it, threw the notice away.

No, if you tell them not to flash anything... they don't flash anything.

If you REALLY don't want it, there are locking covers for the OBD2 port.

Mine is a 2017 bought in December. Mine does not do that. I’ve moved multiple times with the door open
Edit: it usually just screams at me to put the truck back in park because the door is open

I have a 2017 and it does the same thing. Just says Vehicle is not in park.

Yeah, that is how the trucks came. My 2017 did that up until this past weekend when they updated it.

Now it does this:

I havent tested that. The dealership suggested 5mph - but that sure sounds like a great way to blow out your transmission....

Be a real shame if their auto park feature ruined my transmission. Trying to prevent an issue by causing themselves potentially more expensive when when people come in with busted transmissions

My '17 Ram has the auto park also. somewhat of a pain in the ass.
While backing up to hitch up the trailer, I leave the door open to see how close i'm to the hitch. Just easier to leave door open for I'm in and out easier.

Not likely. The owners manual says you have to be going 1.2 mph or less in order for auto park to engage. That’s basically as soon as you take your foot off the brake. It’s not like you’re going 5mph, open the door and it slams you into park. Everybody’s getting all excited over nothing with this. I realize that when people have been doing something improper for such a long time that it’s hard to learn how to use the mirrors for what they’re intended. Just get a seatbelt extender like I posted above, and you’ll NEVER have to cry about auto park.

I guess we should let automakers decide what’s good for us

Don't blame FCA for this. Blame the ignorant ****** that run themselves or someone else over with their own stupidity and sue the auto manufacturers rather than take the blame for their own mistakes.
