I dont mind the dart but I like my elcamino more. It is a swinger special even tho it is really nothing special. Slant 6 with small bolt pattern and 4wheel drum brakes lol. The only benefits to the dart is being more of a family vehicle than the elcamino.
hahaha they are made of such thin metal, overly complicated(computers for everything) and really not that great looking. IMO they will be worthless. part of what makes older cars nice is how simple and cheap they are to work on and how cool they look. i can pretty much replace entire fuel or...
But a truck gets much worse fuel economy. Look how much larger a truck is compared to a car or even older trucks. Even my ramcharger with overdrive could not beat my elcaminos fuel economy. I could see the advantage to a newer elcamino. I also like how much lower the elcamino sit compared to...
the heater box with a/c is still nicer than the one without even if you don't hook up a/c or at least it is up here in the winter. the a/c heater boxes put out way better heat in the winter which i would attribute to the air being pushed through the heater core instead of it being sucked through.
lol i guess it depends on how often you have to top it up lol. i have run everything from atf to 15w40 and haven't had a pump or steering box fail. my dad has even told me he has run gear oil in them when he had nothing else. apparently the gear oil sucks till it warms up but is fine after that.
i personally wouldn't waste time or money doing that. you are best to run it as is or consider installing aftermarket fuel injection. the stock TBI can be a pain and extremely limited. plus with how much you would likely spend getting the parts and rebuilding the TBI unit you could likely almost...
i would say considering how similar the 72-80 trucks are to the 81-93 it really seems a bit silly to create create another section for stuff i personally also consider 1st gen. now if you wanted to create a section for 71 or older it might make sense kind of but i don't see if being too busy...
I would say it depends on what you want to do. Do you want to keep the tbi or go carbed. Either way you will likely need a electric fuel pump since the tbi engines don't usually have the correct cam to run a mechanical fuel pump.
Have you checked for power at the and relay? You will usually only see power at the fuel pump wire for about 2 seconds if the computer is working like it should. It is just enough to prime the fuel system. Then the computer is waiting for the engine to crank before turning the asd relay on again.
is the voltage gauges working? when driving you would test for resistance between the distance sensor input pin and ground. the faster you go i think the lower the resistance should be because the shorter pulse will be.
if the drivers door isn't latching i would consider pulling the latch assembly out and soak it in a bucket of parts cleaner. you could try hosing it down with penetration oil also but cleaning work better. the newer style latches were definitely not as good as the older style ones.
the filter goes between the pump and carb. if your truck does not have a return line then you may have to go back to the parts store to get a fuel filter without the return port or just block it off. there are 2 different filters for these truck
as long as you use the dodge brackets. if you use the chevy mounting brackets they lean. the do interfere with opening the triangle window if you use it. you have to pull the mirror all the way in to open or close the window.
have you checked to see if you got spark right at the coil? it is possible the computer might be bad. you can try hooking up a test light in place of the coil. it should flash ever time the engine tries firing the computer.
no problem. you should also be spraying the locks down with some penitrating oil to make sure the pins get lubricated. there is a possibility some may be sticking.
there i as a key code stamped on the tailgate lock that a locksmith should be to make a key using. i would also pull the door locks and see if you can get a key made based off them and hope it matches the ignition.
is there any way to change the amount of posts you see per page? before the update i know you could but i can not find the option anywhere and i am not a fan of 10 posts per page. i personally like about 20 per page since that is how i got it set on most other forums

not necessarily. if that is the only issue with the truck it is likely worth it but they should do a leak down test first to verify how bad the heads or valves might be. also have to take into consideration that they are in Texas and not exposed to the salt and sand to make them rust out like...
are you cranking till the gauge stops going up? those numbers are really low and the difference between the wet and dry test is minimal. if you cranked till the gauge stopped going up i would say you likely have a head issue. definitely might want to do a leak down test to help try and figure...
