I️’ve daily driven my lifted 2500 6.4 mega on 37’s for over 56k miles. 40 mile round trip commute to work, and multiple trips from PA to TX and FL. The only limitation to parking is height, but then again I️ don’t really frequent places that have parking garages.
IMO the mega cab really shines...
Same.
Once I️t got pretty violent and locked itself into 4th gear. No CEL tripped. A few hrs later I️ restarted I️t and had full use of the gears.
I️t still studders on occasion... I️ just lift on the gas and roll back into I️t.
Good luck at the dealer ... I️ decided not to waste my time.
Not necessarily true. Depends on its application. Heat is the biggest enemy of a Transmission.
To the OP, I’m running 37’s w/ 3.73 on my daily driver lifted Mega. I️ don’t have my speedo calibrated so I️ can’t comment but interested in the responses.
For reference I’m running a -12 offset wheel, 18x9 with 37x13.50 Cooper SST’s on a 5” lift and it’s just covered by my aftermarket fender flares.
If memory serves me right ... +18 will just clear stock fenders and +0 will just clear factory fender flares.
But since there was no CEL, and it reset after the truck was started back up there’s nothing a dealer will do unless it suffers a catastrophic failure or happens again and I bring it in while still locked in 4th.
Like I mentioned in my original post we have a hunting trip planned in March and...
Update
I decided since it did not throw a CEL and wasn’t locked in 4th gear I would be wasting my time going to the dealer.
Since 12/13 it has shuddered 6 times, 3 in the past 3 days. Each time I immediately laid off the gas and rolled back on the throttle.
I have a hunting road trip from...
Yeah, I was thinking that.
Made it home without issue. Going to swing by a dealer tomorrow and see if they will order the part before it happens again. I have 3 dealers within 30 mins of my house.
Driving into work this AM the tranny shuddered as I went around a right 90*turn rolling on the gas. It’s done this every now and then since new (49,700 miles). Except this time it then downshifted to 1st gear. I immediately lifted for it to upshift. Shortly after I stopped for a red light. When...
Phil - do you have 35's or 37's?
I don't have a Zone lift, but I have a RC 5". The stance should be similar. I ran 35x12.5x18 for almost 40k miles and thought they look too small, so I upgraded to 37x13.5x18 almost 1k miles ago.
IMO the 37's look just right. If you have 35's or plan on...
I haven't got that far in the decision process yet.
Starting to research a place to do it I trust first. Im real picky with who works on my truck. With the exception of the track bar recall the dealer hasn't had it ... and those monkeys dented my hood.
If anyone in the SE PA area has a...
After 3 years and almost 40k miles with the 5" RC lift and 35's .... I replaced them with Cooper SST Pro's 37x13.5x18 last week.
The pics don't give you an appreciation of how big the truck sits .... but one thing is for sure, they don't look too big on the truck.
The 3.73's gotta go next...
Another thumbs up ..... just installed it on my 2014 2500 Mega with 3.73, 6.4 on 35 Toyos and 5" lift.
I maxed it out, Sport+, plus 4 .... now it feels like it should.
Tried it this AM with success. You don't have to engage the brake before shutting off the ignition tho. I depressed it just enough to trip the sensor, started it up, got the parking brake warning, released it and rolled.
I ran my truck with stock tires and the lift for @200 miles before adding the larger tires and wheels. Didn't really notice a mpg hit ..... when I added the larger and heavier setup is when it became noticeable.
Depending on your gear ratio you may want to consider a swap there as well.
