My little ole 01 Dodge 2500 has a 6 speed, course it's behind a Cummins. Power?? It'll yank the slime off a swamp, not to mention pull my 14k 5th. wheel.
Did I want a 6 speed....No, but wasn't about to put that CHEAP Chrysler auto behind that diesel.
Have an 01 Dodge 2500 Cummins diesel with the "infamous" lift pump that sets on the left side of the engine close to the fire wall. By 03 I was on my 4th. pump. Called Cummins, explained the problem. They were "Shocked", said it was the first they had heard of the problem. Couple times a year...
Have a 2001 2500 diesel 6 speed with a salvage title. "Totaled" it, about 5 years ago, windshield, hood, grill. left front fender, front bumper, some striping.
Have been told ,because it's a 6 speed, it's in high demand.....How high? Don't know.
Have an 01 2500 6 speed diesel, bought new, About 5 years ago"someone" sneaked up in the middle of the night and disabled the clutch switch to the starter. That means it could be started without depressing the clutch.
So, the vehicle was just outside the garage and I was standing outside the...
FWIW; Have a 01 2500 Dodge diesel with a 6th. speed bought in 00 with a 15k Reese 5th. wheel hitch. Been pulling a 33 foot Discovery by Hitchicker with 3 slides since 01.
Weight of 5th. wheel loaded around 13,500 lbs. Average speed 67 1/2 mph. Highway speed limit 70 mph. Weight of truck with...
Replaced the slave clutch couple years ago. Lately having problems starting. Just clicks. Have to pump clutch several times. Checked fluid, full. Thinking about shunting starter wires at clutch.
Thoughts?
Well I found my oil leak. Push rod cover gasket. Texas Diesel Power wants $500 to replace. They charge $90 an hour labor which is cheaper than the dealership. Don't blame em. I'd probably charge more. Gonna tackle it next week. Done enough research. Parts gonna run about 30 bucks, unless I...
Thanks, BTW I should have indicated that these are deep sockets. A standard wont fit.
Also, Loews, Homedepot or Ace don't carry anything that large, Norther Tools does and probably Sears.
2001 Dodge Diesel 5.9
Gotta oil leak on left side near rear of engine. "Think" its the oil pressure sensor/switch, which is a solid state 3 wire sensor controlled by the ECM. This stupid sensor, like most all sensors, are difficult to even see, much less get to. After disconnecting both...
Yesterday code PO341 set. Book says: "Problem with voltage signal from CMP"(camshaft position sensor). O'Reilly's wants 62 bucks plus tax, found 1 on ebay for $20 & change with free shipping.
Question: How to erase code after installation?
TIA
SR/WA
Thanks for your response. Not enough oil in old comp. to measure.
When I install new comp. will charge with a can of 134A that comes with 2oz. of oil in it.
FWIW; A serpentine belt for a non A/C 2001 2500 diesel wont work on an A/C vehicle. Had to use an A/C bypass pulley. They run about...
Compressor "shelled" out. Very little oil in comp.
According to manual 6.2 oz. in A/C system.
When the A/C system is new, charged & run, refrig. is circulated thorugh out the system and remains in the acc., evap.,& cond.
According to manual: When replacing the accum. add 2 oz...
Just received, by mail, a notice from Rust Consulting, Inc. out of Fairbault, MN concerning a class action law suit.
States: Anyone who purchased a 98 thru 01 Dodge diesel equiped with a Cummins ISB 5.9 liter built using a pattern 53 engine block could develop a crack on the passenger of the...
Wasn't a vacuum problem....replaced the liquid line(leak at high pressure port) , accumulator, charged it up and it works great. It'll hang icicles off yer earlobes.....at any speed.
BTW, pulled a vacuum(always pull a vacuum)....26 microns for about hour & half......don't need to do it that...
Thanks, will look at the 97 diy section.
Am currently taking off the vacuum check valve at the vacuum pump.
Without the srvs man., wouldn't have a clue.
Haven't pursued it but have everything else off.
Don't tell anyone but I cracked the top dash when I screwed the bolts in at the windshield, a 4" crack from the center bolt back..........how dumb.
Just had my 97 Grand Voyager, with 216k miles, inspected at Kwik Lube, they will do a...
Just for a look see into the a/c,heater components. My original problem is still a/c, see first post.
Am on a vacuum leak hunt at present.
Bigtman sent a link to the srv.manual...which I'm in his debt.
