    When i added one to my old '13 i used the power in the 7pin trailer and a relay with the reverse lights only triggering the relay. I am very cautious about putting power draws on electrical systems now days. the slightest draw can trip a CEL.

    So if i got you correctly you have no cam, and ant to add one? if so the dealer can add the sales code so the input is activated. or you can use an adapter like stated above. The dealer added sales code doesnt allow you to view it in motion though.

    like other say find a local autoparts store that will scan for free. dont it many times. I was told that if a cel is on solid its ok to drive, if its blinking then stop driving it I have had them come on a few days later from a gas cap as it didnt get fully tightened at first.

    Now days for the vehicle there is really no added benefit. It may be a little cheaper, but you get way less gas mileage. In the early -mid 2000's i had a ranger that could use it. I determined that for the difference in mileage e85 had to be almost 65% the price of regular to break even.

    good luck most shops charge .5-1 hour of labor. most mechanics at a dealer are on commission. if you were on commission would you want to work for free?
