1990 Dodge D150 318 Sputter Jerking Bucking BAD while driving 45mph +...idles great

Only the distributor? Geez, that sucks you spent all that money and then it was a simple fix. At least you won't have to worry about any other problems for a long time!

    LA for Magnum Swap

Wow... it looks so small in there haha. That definitely looks easier to do than trying to get the electrical set up properly.

    Best price?

I think it's just a good habit to look at not only multiple tires but multiple sources of tires and wheels. When you find the tire you want, look at multiple online sellers and see which one sells them the cheapest. I've found Tirerack to be alot cheaper for Goodyear tires than other websites...

    LA for Magnum Swap

See, I WOULD rebuild it and then put it in later, but I need to get my truck to be drive-able asap. I don't have another car to drive and I need something for transportation. How much time would it take to do a full swap would you wager? If I don't get a Magnum, it would be a switch to a 318...

    LA for Magnum Swap

If you guys remember my thread from a few weeks ago, I was having trouble with my LA 318. I took the engine out yesterday, which was incredibly annoying considering all the smog pipes and that the torque converter didn't want to turn for the longest time (had to bust out a crow bar and turn it...

    W150 85 running ruff

This is the first time I really wish I could see a video of it running or just be there to look at it. Check for cracks in the intake and exhaust manifolds, if you ran it from Florida to Tennessee you drove that thing pretty hard. Fuel Pump is a good check, I wouldn't worry about the smog pump...

Another newbie thread; need help with differences

I don't believe it. I'd have to see it in person... like... how? Plus I want to hear it... but those tires are going to be dry-rotted to hell though, at least in the bead.

Another newbie thread; need help with differences

That doesn't seem real. How... how can that exist? Shit, this makes me not want to sell my truck. It woke me up to just how beautiful these trucks are and how important they were, even if they aren't valued highly by collectors. Plus, that jet black with the gold pinstripe is just sexy.

    1987 W150 318 -- No headers available?

I already took off the air pump, it was just getting in my way :P Thankfully I live in South Carolina, so no emission legislation to deal with. I could run straight headers with no mufflers and I would be in the right legally, it would just be INCREDIBLY loud and that's what would get me a...

    318 TBI Performance

I have a smogged '90 TBI. Basically what Dodgedude94 said, just try to take off as much smog gear as you can without screwing over the computer ;P There are just so many hoses and vacuums on that thing that it's beyond ridiculous. I tried getting rid of the MAF, but that didn't really go so...

89 d150 318 TBI Stalls & Idle raises and lowers after engine heats up

Diaphragms are found in the transmission, so that wouldn't be the issue causing it to stall in park/neutral. If you redid most of the vacuum tubes, recheck the connectors for them and make sure you tightened them enough but didn't over-tightened. I don't know your experience with cars, but my...

89 d150 318 TBI Stalls & Idle raises and lowers after engine heats up

The throttle body temp sensor mainly makes sure that the fuel mixes correctly when the engine is hot. Since you mention that all of this happens after it's warmed up, I would test that sensor more. Get an OBD scanner and scan the computer. If you get 23, then it's a problem with the sensor and...

    1990 ram v6 to v8 swap

I just checked up on the sensor count you mentioned. Depending on how old the engine is, Chrysler implemented a custom fuel-injection system for the V8's from '88-'91 and the v6 Dakotas from '87-91. I can't find if the Dakotas were the only ones that received that upgrade or if it also was in...

    1990 ram v6 to v8 swap

If you want a 318, I have one for sale haha. It works, but it would be best to rebuild it. I would rebuild it myself, but I don't have the money for it. It also came off of a 1990, so it should wire up without much difficulty. You'll definitely want a new radiator though. The v8 takes alot more...

    Young blood, hardcore Mopar fan.

Just an update, my engine threw a rod, a combination of overheating, gunk in the oil, and probably so much more. I'm not sure if I'll have to sell the truck or not. I don't have the money to fix it now, but I need a daily driver.

1990 D150 engine surging when idle or driving (part of the time)

I'll pull the pan when I get the time to. Until then, I have my brother's wedding that I have to help put together and attend this Saturday, which is being held at my house (my aunt was married here too, it's a beautiful house, so don't knock it :P). Yard work has to be done, inside needs to be...

1990 D150 engine surging when idle or driving (part of the time)

Final Update, unfortunately. Installed the new waterpump and temp gauge, everything was working fine. I was testing this morning, going at various RPMs to test for any leaks at different pressures. I got up to what I'm assuming to be around 3000 rpm, and all of a sudden the engine starting...

1990 D150 engine surging when idle or driving (part of the time)

Again, I've been saving money up for a complete engine rebuild and rebore. The overheating issue just pushed me to start now instead of pushing it off.

1990 D150 engine surging when idle or driving (part of the time)

Well, it isn't a small overheating issue, that's the thing. If I keep driving it that engine will die, it overheats every time I drive. I'm just going to pull it out and rebuild. While I'm doing that I can do body work and suspension.

1990 D150 engine surging when idle or driving (part of the time)

The truck is the cheapest one to insure that we have. I was thinking of pulling registration along with the insurance so we don't have to pay taxes for the truck, save even more money ;P We actually only have two other cars, so I wouldn't have any car to drive myself. That's the sucky part...

Slight miss during idle, lots of new parts. What next?

As long as the hose is long enough to reach it, it should be fine. I still would try to clean the old one though if you can salvage it, then return the new one, again if you can. Make sure after you clean and reinstall it that it doesn't affect performance any. Did you tune the carb after...
