Replaced my stick on vent visors for a set of in channel ones. Spent all afternoon getting old ones off. First they were super brittle and broke with any pressure. Then trying to get off that adhesive tape. Man that sucked. I thought dealer where I got truck put them on but I am guessing...
I'm at Class 2 and that does not matter. What matters is the GVW on the door tag. I am 8650 GVW and just got inspected. They did not do emissions and when I asked why. I was told I am 50lbs from not needing and didn't bother. My boss has a '18 2500 but his GVW is 10k. His registration says...
Auto Service Mall - Brandt School Rd in Wexford is suppose to do sniffer ($100). Also Baierl Chevrolet but was told they charge $300
This stupid testing is suppose to go away sometime this year but is being held up.
I replaced the ball joints on my '12 2500. Less than 45k miles and they were shot. Both bottoms junk, uppers had a little play but not horrible. Replaced with Mevotechs.
Took forever getting driver side lower out. Apparently it was messed up during install from factory. Was galled up and I got...
I work right in Thornhill, small world. I'd say dealer registered your truck like that when you got it.
Amazing how they want tests done with obsolete equipment that can't be fixed/serviced anymore. Course PA is run by a bunch of friggn idiots. I didn't even realize a tailpipe test was even a...
It is a GVW thing in PA and a very very small window that requires the tail pipe sniffer. Yes it is fn stupid when hardly anyone has that equipment anymore. Shop we use normally has a tail pipe sniffer but it is broken and owner says parts are not available for it anymore. So it sits in a corner...
I use Rhino Ramps, not sure if they are the 12k or 16k versions(would need to look at them). I use them to back up onto and level my enclosed trailer so I can get car out into shop easier. Current ones have plenty of reinforcements and such. Plus the ramp part is a stronger design verse older...
1982 Toyota Pickup 2wd SR5, first vehicle
1979 Olds Cutlass
1972 Olds Cutlass 'S' Post Door Coupe (Drag raced, triple black, sat low and mean)
1979 Pontiac Firebird (Ended up with the 350 Olds motor from 72 Cutlass, also drag raced)
1984 Ford Mustang GT350 convertible - still have and another...
Went about killing some drone in the exhaust. Dealer had put on a MRPB exhaust which just had the worst drone I ever experienced in an exhaust system. Installed a Vibrant 1142 Resonator 3" in/out. Which did wonders to kill drone and help the overall sound of exhaust. Now much better.
I did end...
Had that issue with my '04. Had driver hub fail during a turn(pucker factor of a 1000). Got it replaced and together in under an hour. Moved on to the passenger side and what a nightmare. Nearly bent a puller trying just to get axle out of hub. Then hub was stuck in knuckle. By that time I was...
Truck wise,
1st ever vehicle a 1982 Toyota pickup SR5 4cyl/5speed
2. First new vehicle I ever bought a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 5.2v8/5speed
3. 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 5" Procomp lift/3" body
4. 2012 Ram 2500 4x4 with 35k miles, traded in the '04 for this.
Only personal experience with the Yukon unit I put in my '04 1500. It was a real nice diff which looked well made with very tight clutch packs. It did take a few hundred miles before it seemed to break in. Had lots of chatter in turns for awhile. After it seemed to break in it was quiet and...
Installed steering box brace from dodgeramsteeringstabilizer on my 2500. Was pleasantly surprised at the difference in feel driving. So nice to do something to a vehicle that is straight forward and easy to do.
Did end up ordering a nice extra deep socket to add to tool collection for the...
2012 Ram 2500 w/35k miles just got from dealer.
Rough Country level kit and front shocks.
Mayham Warrior 17x9 -12 offset wheels
AMP Terrain Pro 315/70-17 tires
Owned this truck for 8.5 years and just today finally figured out what lift kit is in it. Old discontinued ProComp K2057BMX. Just happened to stumble upon a picture of the kit during a search. Yet to find any instructions for it online anywhere.
Saturday I'm replacing power steering rack that...
New upper control arms and outer tie rod ends. They lasted 6.5 years. Need to replace steering rack as it has bad leak and get it aligned. BUT
Since truck is lifted. There are 4.5" drop arms attached to steering rack in place of inner rod ends. Which is tied into some sort of stabilizer. Then...
New wheels and tires today. 17x9 Ion Alloy 133 with 315/70-17 BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2's. Feels like driving a new truck. Nice and smooth and no vibrations.
Not a bad job really.
Used large swing arm puller(out of tool kit from Harbor Freight) to pop ball joint from steering knuckle. I had a press and it should have went smoothly but could not get them to budge. Didn't want to use a pipe and end up deflecting tool. Original ball joints very...
Like an unlubed door hinge that creaks real loud. Drove me up a wall until I figured what was causing it. If you jack up the control arm to take weight off it would stop. Soon as I put weight on wheel you could hear it again.
Replaced both lower ball joints. Autozone Duralast pieces, made in US. Stamped Federal Mogul Sterling. Even better greasable :headbang:
103,000 miles and driver side gave up. Started with a squeak and eventually became a loud grind when turning or just slight movement in suspension. Found...
