Long Travel CV axle vs Stock for lifted trucks

I went ahead and finally replaced both my cv shafts with the Trakmotive extended travel units from Rockauto. I replaced the intermediate shafts and seals on both side too.

Silly ass question but I got to ask

Looks good. You can get lifting shackles too if you want to adjust the lift. I've got 4" blocks in the rear of mine(Zone 6" lift). I've been thinking of going with traction bars personally. That'll cure most if not all the axle wrap. I gotta replace my driver side leaf pack since it sags...

Long Travel CV axle vs Stock for lifted trucks

Good deal. Makes me feel better about replacing mine now. I'm probably going to take the preload spacers out too while I got it all apart. My stock cv shafts are pretty much the only thing making noise now and I'm getting that wonderful shimmy right off from a take off for about 5-10ft now.

Long Travel CV axle vs Stock for lifted trucks

My factory cv shafts look about the same after I installed a Zone 6" kit on my 2007 Ram. I ended putting the Bilsteins on the lowest setting and used the preload spacers that Zone offers. I saw that my local Napa carries cv shafts for lifted trucks. Where did you get yours from? Truck riding...

Lifted 3rd Gen Pics - Show Em Off!

Zone 6" w/325/60/20s. Did the install myself. CV shafts don't like it much lol. I might take out the preload spacer that Zone offers. I put the Bilsteins at factory(lowest) setting to. I found that Napa carries cv shafts specifically for our lifted 1500s so I might give them a shot also...

    leather seat owners

I can tell the difference in my Sport model. I've the bucket seats and they are two tone. The dark grey center is leather and the outside sections that are light grey are all vinyl. Pretty sad I pay for a truck that says it has leather seats and only a third of the seat is actual leather...

srt10 is it still being made ?

X2! I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a twinkie. :) An SRT 8 426 Hemi Ram w/AWD and the new 8-spd auto...I need to quite dreaming.

opinions on Kore cv joints for 4/6 drop....

The high angle Kore CV joints may work with that much drop. What type of Monroe coil/strut combo you going with that allows more drop? I'm just curious. I did the 2/4 drop on my last Ram 4x4 and had no issues with it. I've seen some horror pics of guys going more than 2.5" on the front of a...

Anyone Bought these headlights off ebay???

Some wheel well liners for the bed will clean up that area a lot IMHO. I love mine. The truck is looking pretty good.

    Gears

You can also drop your wheel size down to a 17" or 18" wheel(less weight than a 20") which in turn means less rotational mass = easier to move vehicle with less power. This same thing applies to tires too(smaller tire = less weight). If you go with a smaller tire you; in theory; change your...

    Cabin Air Filter Mod

I'm curious about this. Do the the 3rd Gens have a cabin filter in them? I need to check into this.

    rough country lift kits

For the little bit of difference in money to go from 4" to 6"; I'd go with the 6" IMHO. I haven't heard too much negative stuff with Rough Country lifts and they are pretty well priced too.

    3.7L 1500 Lift

Do you have a manual or automatic tranny in it. Is your truck 2wd or 4wd. You have a Chrysler 9.25 rearend unless someone decided to put a Dana rearend in it. The Chrysler rearend has a "Stop sign" design for a diff cover. Either way, if you plan on putting 35's or even 37's on it then I...

    Katzkin

I just emailed Seats R Us about my driver-side heated/leather bucket seat and backrest. Hopefully the new covers don't cost an arm and a leg since I've got the two-tone Sport seats.

    BDS lift kit

Truck will definitely stand out when it's done. I can't wait to get mine paid off so I can start doing some serious mods to it myself.

mopar rear wheel well liner, anybody have them installed?

They should be a factory install on all Rams IMHO. I've got them on my Ram and yes the liners and mud flaps should go on with no problems.

    McGaughy's 2.5/4 Question

One last thing to mention. Make sure the factory leafspring perches get a good weld on all four corners because they weren't intended to be pushed up into from a bottom perch. If you don't then there is a good possibility that those flip-kit perches will push up into the factory perches...

is this the right coolant for hemi??

Really; that sucks. Of course it's been a while since I bought any coolant. $24/gal isn't cheap but at least you don't need much of it unless you're doing a complete flushing.

    photo chop

Any of the 3rd Gen or 4th Gen 20's will look good on your truck IMHO. The only thing I hate about my chrome clad 20's on my 07 is that the aluminum lip is getting eaten away from salt and sand over the years and there isn't much I can do about it either.
  23. Prism

is this the right coolant for hemi??

Yup; that should be the right stuff. You can buy aftermarket coolant that meets the same requirements as the OE stuff and for cheaper from O'Reillys; Napa; Autozone; etc.

    leveling kit

Try to do this on a level surface if you can. It just makes things easier when taking measurements.
  25. Prism

    leveling kit

Yes; an alignment will be needed. You can crank on the existing torsion key bolts to raise your truck but will be a stiffer ride. A tape measure will come in handy when you're turning the bolts. I don't remember how many turns it is but keep a note of the distance between the bolt head and...
