I have to agree with Mike on this. I can buy alot of vps compared to cr injector prices and motors if the injectors take one out. Ther are also alot of 2 gen trucks out there. But if 250k miles scaresyou on a 2nd gen I guess you ought to buy a 3rd and save up for some injectors.
While 1 million miles is quite an acheivement, there are a few that have made it(one of them on a 53 block 1.2 million to be more precise). I have that number in the back of my mind all the time. Now at 10 years and only 250k on mine I am not sure i will live that long. But I do like the idea of...
see if you can get a contact at ebay to verify shes on the level. but personally she would not get a dime until i saw the truck and the title was in my hand and name.
it it still has the stock lift pump you will have to deal with that. could also mean a new vp. how low are the miles? if the price is right you could afford to spend a little on it. check the codes.
i have oe in mine. i removed the oe filter box and installed the bhaf in its place. still need to do something with the old bolts. i temporarily got the bolt covered that hits the bhaf but need to do something diffearant in the future. i do not run a heat sheild and have not noticed any...
at ten years and 245k i dont see that with resonable care mine will go another 250k and be alot less expensive than 2 new ones to go the same distance. there will be expenses for things that wear out, thats just to be expected. i am just going to keep mine on the road and enjoy the longevity.
freaking easy job to do wasnt it? i took all the fuel lines off when i did mine. did you? i believe i could do it with out takeing them off next time.
i thought those 50hp sticks sounded small for every thing you got on there
i gues this means i am the little yellow guy.
kidding aside i am thinking that the power loss i felt like i was experiencing probably had some thing to do with the old injectors. maybe they were just shoiwng there age and getting weaker. not sure.
after the rv install i could tell i...
i got home this weekend and went to check things out. low and behold the main ground for the ootomind was flapping in the wind. new ring terminal and bolted her back down.
couldnt help but think of Mike because she runs like a screaming beaver looking for wood.
wel dave i forgot you had this page. i just changed my injectors out last weekend and you are chicken chit if you dont do it your self. it is quite easy. you dont need a spark plug wrench they just pop out. i was surprised at how easy it was. you get her opened up and do #! and just repeat. mike...
the ottomind tuner does tap the pump. when igot my new vp from blue chip i got his equivalent of the stealth cover. i might have a bad connection there or a ground or a boost leak. on the way to install the injectors i had 30 t0 32 pai of boost, the short trip right after install i had the same...
i believe i read a write up by m1973mn over on his sight. i dont remember now. i spoke tohim about it a couple times also. when i adjusted the valves it was all quite obvious. one small bolt to remove and the hold down slides out and then you just pop out the injector. i used one of the intake...
dont get me wrong dave, there is extra power there and i am not dissapointed. ther is just another problem that needs to be found. i would not be suprised if i drive it tommorow and the boost is back. like i said it has happened before. could be a sticky waste gate or a boost leak somewhere...
well i made my 300 mile trip back. truck ran good. i could feel the extra power. not overwhelming but there none the less. it seemed to spool a little quicker, but somewher in the early part of the trip i went from 30 to 32#psi to 27 at wot and 2500 plus rpm. not sure what is going on with that...
all right i made it to my daughters house and make the swap. just before i arrived i developed a coolant leak. i will save that for a nother story though.
the swap was very uneventful. it went like clockwork. disassembly and reassembly of all the stuff thatis in the way took up the most...
that would be no problem. i have looked it over a dozen times and it just does not look that difficult. i adusted my vales last weekend and it was a breeze. i have already taken all the stuff of thats in the way before when i did my vp that to was pretty easy. #6 will be a pain to reach but so...
