Fixed the ujoint and checked the rest out. One ball joint is a little loose. Tie
Rod a little loose at pitman arm and boot on center tie rod is torn. I guess I’m just going to bite the bullet and rebuild the whole thing. I still don’t see how that caused my steering wheel to suddenly be so...
He said he hit a pothole, so it’s possible. You would think that would t do as much as some of the off-roading we do. When he gets home, I’ll have him turn the steering while I look at the linkage.
So the only thing I see wrong is the driver side u joint is broken. I don’t see how that would cause the steering wheel to go off center though. Having a heck of a time getting the hub off so it’s going to soak in some PB blaster.
My son has been driving my '96 1500 4WD for the past week. Went to drive it today and the steering wheel is off to the right, about 2 o'clock when driving straight ahead. It was perfectly straight before. What should I check? FWIW, it already has a borgeson steering shaft and a heavy moog...
The transmission cooler line has started leaving on my 1996 Ram 5.9 Auto. It’s the line that connects at the bottom of the radiator with a push on fitting and at the other end with a threaded fitting to the metal line. When I did a Mopar parts search it is listed as a discontinued product...
I pulled mine with vice grips too. The bad news is that I had two plugs so rusted in that they broke off and I had a terrible time getting them out. Hope yours aren’t.

Went through that nightmare when I got mine. One snapped and didn’t think I would ever get it out. Just kept soaking with penetrating oil. Removed the heat shields and don’t miss them.

Don’t know, but should be pretty easy to check. There’s an access plate on the back side of the axle where you can see if it is engaged. At least it is that way on my 1500. I took the cover off when I replaced the axle seal.

My passenger mirror is broken. It's one of the chrome power mirrors. I was wondering if it would be easy to upgrade my mirrors to the ones on the 98 and up trucks.

Thrush that supposedly fits wasn't even close. Ended up exchanging it for a walker muffler that looks and sounds like OE. All in all a pretty easy morning's work.
Autozone is running a 15% off sale today, so I thought I might replace my crusty exhaust. The stock muffler inlet and outlet are offset. So, if you install a bullet or glass pack, how do you like the muffler up with the stock intermediate and tail pipes?
I looked online and it appears I can buy the muffler and pipe to fit for well under the price of one of the kits. Might even put a glass pack on.
How can I tell it the cat needs replacement? I banged on it and it doesn't rattle.
Thanks for the advice. I was concerned about it being difficult to hang that dual pipe with the gas tank and spare tire location. I usually do all my mechanical stuff myself but haven't tackled exhaust before. Can anyone recommended a fair priced single out system? There's no emission...
I'm still on the original exhaust. It's pretty rusty. I don't want to pay an arm and a leg but would like a bit more growl. This looks like a pretty good deal. How would this compare in price with going to a muffler shop? How hard would it be to replace myself, particularly since it would be...
