    Yes, I replaced my 8.4a non-alpine with a Kenwood DDX9903S w/Idatalink and Scosche bezel. Everything works perfect now. I had some serious issues with the dash lighting randomly staying on overnight but the Idatalink folks released an updated firmware for the unit which fixed my issue.

    I would escalate the issue higher up the company chain, outside of the dealer that you're working with. They'll understand. A few friends of mine have done that with ongoing vehicle issues and extended dealership stays like yours. You should definitely get something out of this whole ordeal.

    I was wrong, the fuse trick did work. Apparently I was pulling the wrong one before. I just hate that I feel like I constantly have to check it now. I think the Maestro unit still may have something to do with it, although I won't be able to prove it. Maybe I'll just wire in a manual cutoff...

    Mine is doing it right now. Just noticed it as I arrived to work a few min ago. Fuse pull isn't working, so looks like I need to experiment more when I go back out at lunch. Glad I have two batteries. It's getting old with this crap. I've never expected much out of Dodge quality though..

    When mine does it, it's like it's completely locked up. Center dash display stays dark, won't get the RAM symbol at key-on, etc.. Always have to reset it by pulling the fuse or batt cables.

    I didn't bother using that little red wire that runs beside the RCA cable at all. Just spliced the camera power leads into the trailer wiring and ran the RCA cable back to the Kenwood. Works fine. Your camera may simply be bad.

    Question for those who replaced an 8.4 with after-market

    I used that kit, along with the Maestro and a Kenwood DDX9703S and the OEM volume knob works perfectly. Which was awesome as I can't stand button up/down controls on head units. No nav on mine. I usually use my phone/google for Nav.
