nice !
this past weekend, I hauled home a few loads of stone and a 1.5 yard load of topsoil. I had the bags up to 80psi. They held just fine, and the truck drove really great. That is for a project I am doing at home, so its not common that I will be hauling this amount on a frequent basis...
Well, during this past ultra busy weekend, I did find a small amount of free time to get these welded in place. I was thinking of also through-bolting them to the frame, but decided to hold off for now. I can always go back and drill some holes for through-bolts later. I welded most of the...
I still kinda think I could try to make something work with the bag on top of the axle tube, so I will give it a better look over on Sunday if I can get some free time. Part of my thinks it will be an issue with height and having to squeeze the bag lower, yet still find a way to keep it with the...
Thanks for the reply. I hear ya on the engineering of it, but I still am stuck on the fact that the mainstream companies develop and sell air bag kits that mount on the spring ahead of the axle tube. Trust me, I don't want to have an accident or be unsafe, but I'm looking to resolve or alleviate...
I appreciate that advice, and I do understand what you are saying. I agree with part of it, but not the potential destruction you foresee. Are you specifically discussing my specific setup? ..... because in a way it seems like you are saying any/all air bag systems will cause havoc with any/all...
Yup, so before typing all this up, I was also convinced that these would have to go above the axle, so i was a bit disappointed when I saw how tall they were.. But, then I wondered if I could find any more info on the internet. Starting with search terms for the firestone ait bags and air-ride...
I have a set of Firestone Air bags that I took off of my buddies 1939 Ford street-rod when we switched it over to coil overs and notched the frame. These bags don't have a part number, but I know they are lift bags because he used them for years to keep the car off of the pavement while...
So, for a while now it has been ok. In the past 4-5 weeks it has only done it twice, most recently a few days ago. It is almost like a "delayed start" where it knows it is going to start but wants to crank for 2-3 seconds. When it does fire, its never revved up immediately afterwards, nor...
that certainly does make sense from a mechanical perspective. Would not be fun or cheap to change the injectors, or to have them cleaned at a shop. Wonder if there is a way for me to "clean" them aside from the typical Lucas fuel system treatment stuff. Hesitant to remove them and try to clean...
yep, I agree. I only have my truck to test it on, so unless I have other people with previous knowledge or experience, I am kinda just stuck knowing what my "bleed down" rate is at.
hmm, very glad to hear everyone input on this odd/intermittent issue. these are all good possibilities. I am glad to have input from the forum on this topic! I wish I had some type of data-logger on this truck to record exactly what the engine/sensors are going through during the intermittent...
so, truck has still yet to do it, but I am sure its due
did a fuel pressure check just because I had a moment. it primes to about 58 psi and then drops down if the engine isn't cranked. if engine is cranked it holds at about 58=60 psi. after key is shut off, it drops from 60 down to...
ah! very interesting!! an injector leak, hmmm, I will keep that in mind when I keep troubleshooting my situation. glad you got your truck back and repaired!!
so far, since I typed this thread up two weeks ago, the truck has yet to do it! but I know its coming. like I said, its...
thats not a bad idea. right, if the crank signal isn't getting to the ecm, it wont fire the coils basically? I will certainly check this too, indeed, thank you. but also, wouldn't this cause intermittent misfires and drive-ability issues.. that I would certainly notice while driving?
I...
yea, that is an option. I have a fuel pressure analog/dial gauge I have used for other vehicles I own, so I could see if the fitting will connect to the ram 5.7. It would become annoying to pop the hood every single time I am going to drive the vehicle to check fuel pressure, but it might be...
I was thinking it would be fuel system related or electrical/ignition related.
it is odd though. its so intermittent and unpredictable. I mean the truck can sit for a few days at times (and the pressure would bleed down of course during this) but it will usually start up fine. sometimes...
This happens once in a while, but its happened enough over the past two years that I would love to fix it. Truck is a daily drier 2005 dodge ram 1500 quad cab 2wheel drive 5.7L hemi with only 56,000 miles on it.
every few weeks it will take an extra 5 seconds of cranking to fire the engine...
gotcha gotcha. I was just making sure because the blasters would be useful for a forced injection setup, but would be excessive for a N/A setup. street fire coil would be best for a N/a street setup. I am hoping someone snatches them up. they are good!
Actually, they came off of my friends 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab 5.7 L hemi. we put them on and a few months later he found out he was having a baby so he returned the truck to stock and traded it in for a silly Subaru, so we took the coil packs off and he gave them to me as a thank you...
Selling some stuff I do not need.

yup, gotcha. sending you an email about it now.
unsure how to box/package it, and what the cost will be for shipping.
Perhaps I can take several boxes and cut them up and tape them together. or find a large tube style box.
MSD Street fire coil-packs for 03-05 hemi. online each coil pack reatails for about $35. I will seel all 8 for $100 plus shipping. they were on my buddies 2003 ram 1500 for about 8,000 miles. prior to him selling the truck, he returned it all back to stock. they are very very lightly used...
