What did you do to your Gen3 today?

Sold mine last week. 190000 miles, looking at a blend door and 2 others along with a compressor and fan to get the AC to work at all, decided to sell. Put it on CL for 4K, was sold in less than 2 hours. The guy didn't even look under the hood, check oil, water, NOTHING. Well made the deal in 2...

    Upgraded exhaust bolts

I used standard grade 8 SHCS on mine with thick hardened washers. Zinc-aluminum coated from Mcmaster carr (bolts) 40 times the corrosion resistance than zinc alone. Socket heads get a bad rap usually but I put them on everything I replace. Never had a problem.

    '03 ram cummins diesel

+1 this is it. The rubber lining in the center of the hose comes loose and acts as a 1 way valve. I bet if you let it sit for a while it will move but the minute you press on the brake it locks up like 80%.

    4.7l cams

I was thinking getting struck by lightening.... twice in one day.... in doors. If you are determined and have money contact North Coast Camshafts in Cleveland, Ohio. They can do custom grinds.

What did you do to your Gen3 today?

I drove mine today. Had it parked for a while. Didn't realize how much I missed it, how comfortable it is and how generally "cool" it is. I wish I were a few inches taller I would just consider it my full time vehicle. I have a hard time reaching the ATM from the drivers seat and I go to the...

    Some Questions about oil pressure?

I wouldn't worry about it until it flutters below 40 at idle. If you were not so far away I would come over when you do your oil change and keep the oil you drain, put it in my vehicles and drive another 5 to 8k. Then again you might have the only 4.7 in history that will reach 250,000 miles...

How to Boroscope 4.7 to Check for Sludge?

You don't need to scope for sludge, it is there. I've read articles where people changed oil every 3000 miles and it still sludged up. You have to remember though synthetic oil existed in 2002 on up, the earlier years it was way too expensive for most people to use regularly. The good news? If...

    Wheel bearing replacement q

I do it all the time and have never once had a problem. Your absolute best hub/bearing prices will be found at Detroit Axle hands down. I buy parts from them for a lot of different makes, big blue in my siggy is riding on a set right now.

Diesel trouble 3 shops can't find the problem

I don't personally know anyone that has one, you might call BD customer service maybe there is a simple test you can run to determine if the thing works at all. I don't know anyone at BD, they are competitors since we are a Superchips dealer.

Diesel trouble 3 shops can't find the problem

I hate traction control, my wife and I have had 3 new hondas in the past 4 years the TC is stupid. It also kills the throttle if your foot is on the brake petal even slightly. I almost took the first one back for that. If I'm rollin towards what might or might not be a stop I have both feet...

Diesel trouble 3 shops can't find the problem

OK just got done talking with a few people here. Looks like we get 50 bucks a piece for testing injectors also. The fuel torque management is meant to keep you from ripping the guts out of your tranny. There are ways to defeat it a couple places offer such devices I don't know if they allow...

Diesel trouble 3 shops can't find the problem

Wish you were closer, the shop I work at could push the injectors to their limit and see how they are holding up. Not lift pump, if it isn't sucking it dry on highway and from 2MPH then it shouldn't from a dead stop. If you can do without the injectors for a week PM me and I'll give you...

    Horn randomly keeps honking??

This thread is killing me LOL. Autobots... blow out! Anyhow is it a timed beeping like intentional electronic type triggering or just a random beep here and there?

    Heat/No heat

Haven't tried it but it is the same with the AC on mine. Cold on the left, warm on the right. If I keep the truck much longer I will just pull the dash and do a heater core and evaporator replace. Then I can look at the doors while I have it out. For the OP's info the doors run off little...

    Turbo 4.7

Yup no tune and you will have holy pistons in no time. I have access to any turbo I want and I would never put one on any of my vehicles. No diesels thats why LOL.

    Heat/No heat

Ugh you are probably in for a big fix, sorry. Sounds like the mode 1 or mode 2 doors, I forget which one has the 2 flaps on it but I have the same problem on mine, did plenty of research and decided because of the complexity of the various fix scenarios I'm avoiding it LOL. Heater treater site...

    missing problem

99% sure you bent a valve. It is an interference motor and if the cam stopped and the crank kept going you surely have bent valves. You would not "hear" a bent valve, the head of the valve is bent and it still goes almost in its closed position so the hydraulic lash adjuster would keep it from...

    Front wheel bearing toast

I will check out the vendor but it really wouldn't matter what happens at the outer CV how could that affect the inner CV to the differential housing? Was hoping perhaps there is some kind of replaceable bushing inside the housing. Seal is leaking also in that area.

    Front wheel bearing toast

Hey guys, Had a front wheel bearing go on me on the way to work friday. Like no warning at all until it started sounding like scraping metal. I'm replacing both of them Monday but I noticed the CV part that goes into the front axle wobbles... I can grab it and move it up and down a more than...
