    Coolant dipstick dry

I've got that problem as well on my 18 Ram with 14k miles. After the last 1500 mile trip. took it to the dealer and guessing just over a pint low. Never overheated so know that isn't the problem. Had them check system under pressure for about 3 hours. Of course nothing showing and pressure...

    Gears inquiry

Mileage will depend on a few factors. Elevation, flat land driving, towing, and probably as much as anything, driving habits. Driving smoothly and learning how to get a quicker upshift will be a large part of it. The computer learns your style so the more efficient you drive, the better. I...

    Gears inquiry

Not sure about your reason(s) for re-gearing. I did and went to 4.56 with the Yukon Gear sets. My question and or thoughts, if going to be towing, (12k and upward) would recommend probably the 4.88's. The reason for not going higher is the ring to pinion tooth contact area. Thinking over...

Wondering if valve damage on all cylinders from a severe over rev??

    Heater Not Blowing Hot

Is your temp gauge showing a minimum of 180 deg? Also, check your pressure cap vent valve to see it is free. If not will could create a vacuum in the system and close your upper hose. Also, would suggest using the full shielded thermostat on the older engines. Night and day better regulation...

If you live or work on top of a hill

Would be curious as to what grade he is coming down. I'm old as well and use my gears "a lot". Live in CO even. Have the 3.21 gears and am impressed with the engine braking with the high gear ratio. That said, like me, if the hill is less than a mile from the house and with the engine not...

Will Ram go bigger than the 6.4?

Wonder, since owning my 14 2500 with the 6.4 if there couldn't be a manual "performance" selection. Not sure now with the new 8 speed trans but sure felt that there could have been a performance mode as well. Did fool the computer a couple of times and the engine had a substantial momentary...

Don't feel so bad about our truck recalls

Read your complaint of not getting a "loaner vehicle" when your vehicle is in for recall. Must have poor dealerships where you live. Here in Grand Junction, CO, my dealer ether has a loaner waiting or I can (my choosing) go to my salesman and he will loan me ether a used or new vehicle off the...

    Rear Coil Springs and Towing

Had the 2014 2500 with the coil springs in and thru 2018, Towed a 38' 13k 5th wheel TH. Did elect to go with the Air LIft 5000 air bags. Best move I made. Noticeably reduced the pin shock on the 5'er and kept the ride height at unloaded level. See that pic's and also others on the road that...

    The stupid front driveshaft greasing....

Even my dealer couldn't find it or get it greased. Finally, took a short 12" steel brake line and adapted one end to small grease gun and welded up the opposite end with brass. Ground it into a point of about 1/32" at the tip and ground it back over 1/4". Drilled it out with a small size...

    2019 2500 6.4 or 2018 6.4?

WOW!! Didn't realize they had the 8 speed behind the 6.4 in a 2500. Truly, with my experience with the 6.4 and the standard 3.73 gears behind the 6 speed, I would be all over the 8 speed if they have the approximate gearing ratios that the 8 speed behind the 5.7 has. What diff gear ratio are...

3.73 Differential Gear sets for 2014 Ram 2500

Hi all. Sold my 2014 Ram with the 4.56 gearing mod. Have the original gear sets for front and rear, stock, 3.73 ratio. Have just over 11K miles on them and look like new. Asking around $300 for the set or a reasonable offer. Thank You. Doug

2018 2500 6.4 seems different after recalls done

While re gearing can and is expensive, if you like the overall truck, you won't be sorry going to the 4.56 gears. In essence, it's like taking 6th gear away and putting it on the bottom. Drive in 5th and you will get some idea. Due to the gearing though, the gear range will be a bit narrower...

    Towing w/2500 6.4L

Changing the gearing is a about the only way to get the 6.4 to pull without running in the higher rpm range. And even then, as the speed and rpm in low gear equate to 1000 rpm = 10 mph, (at 30 mph running only 3000 rpm) being on a long and hard pull with 10 or over in weight, almost a 4WD...

Anyone Else Hate The Sound Of Their Horn?

No, don't dislike the horn sound per say but hate the horn duration. NO more just a light beep. Now, a loud, long HONK!. Pisses people off and thinking I would feel the same. What can we do to just get a little beep? My 2014 was the same thing.

    8spd 3:92 to 4:56 gears

Just interested in your going to 4.56 gearing. Assume this is an 8 speed and 15oo series. Just traded in my Ram 2500. Was one of the first to re-gear to 4.56. Went down to 15oo and 5.7 with the 8 speed. Even with the 3.21 gear, seems to have better power by far that the 2500 with the...

    6.4 hemi, 4.56 gears, speed and RPM's

Ya, one would think with the 4.56 that that wouldn't happen, the severe downshift. It still can when towing heavy and trying to keep a speed without the high rpms. The probable cause of this issue is the computer for the transmission shift. If there was a tuner that could effectively let the...

    6.4 hemi, 4.56 gears, speed and RPM's

Well, my thoughts between 4.56 and 4.88 if going to tow heavy would today be the 4.88's. At first, with really no one changing to the 4.56 with the intent of towing heavy, wondered about the longevity of the gears as you will significantly reduce the ring to pinion tooth contact. Well, after 2...

    The 6.4 HD Hemi Thread

Puzzled by what the "lock down towing thing"?? I'm assuming that you were pulling a steep grade at 11,000 ft. elevation? If that was the case, think you will find that is what the 3.73 gearing does when the grade wont allow you to get to the power band (4000 rpm) in low gear. I also...

Bummed out!! Truck can't tow what I need her to.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that having a 3500 srw and wanting it for load is almost a waste as the tires are only capable of carrying what a 2500 will haul. But a question, does anyone know if a 18" tire is available in an F or G load rating for these trucks? So far, I haven't...

    first tow 2500 6.4 vs Ecoboost f150

Reading your comment about power being about the same as ECO Boost, wait until about the 15K mileage mark and then compare. Thinking you will see a significant difference. I sure did. Very happy with the power now at 45K.

    Any Complains with Navigation System

Having the 2014 2500 with the 7.4, at first I cussed it but as we learned how to use it, it did fine even on our 4 month Alaska trip last summer. As has been previously stated, if you are in an unfamiliar area and expecting turns and such, patience is important as it takes it time to project...

    The 6.4 HD Hemi Thread

You can definitely hear it as well as the tack will reflect the change. A light acceleration will unlock the converter also and still being in the same gear will increase the engine rpm's. Any real significant throttle will cause a down shift of gears. You can watch it on your tack and if...

    The 6.4 HD Hemi Thread

That is correct. 2200 rpm at 80 mph. The torque converter is locked up at that rpm. Before the gear change the locked rpm was 1800 rpm at 80. That was also with 3.73 gearing. While I love the low rpms cruising, I sure wish FC would build an 8 speed to go behind the 6.4. The cruising rpm...

    2014 2500 5.7L gear upgrade

Would personally do nothing less that the 4.30 and up to the 4.56. Thinking for the weight towing, 4.88 would be a bit too much. 4.10' wouldn't achieve the change you would want and the cost would be the same.
