    Long tubes headers or shorties

    I put a set of Pacesetter ceramic coated long tubes on my '04 1500 over 10 years ago. Shorties weren't even a consideration. I've been searching for a replacement set, but can't seem to find a set of long tubes in ceramic coat. Plain black paint everywhere I look though.

    Conflicting OEM Spark Plug Gap Specs

    I looked up the plugs and gap in my Daimler/Chrysler Corp. 2 book dealership 2004 DR Ram Truck 1500-2500-3500 Service Manual. What I have listed for a 5.7l Hemi is Spark Plugs: Champion - RE14MCC4. Electrode gap is: .045 in. Hope this helps.

    5.7 internals meet outside world

    I went with MSD Blaster Coil Packs, NGK Irridium plugs, and Taylor ThunderVolt 8.2mm spark plug wires in my '04 5.7l Hemi about 10 years ago. I pulled the plugs last month and they look like I put them in last year. Might be an option you would consider.

    Another possible cause of fuel mpg decreasing at 170k could be that the fuel injectors may be a bit clogged, but not gone and can be cleaned. That and spark plugs are the cheapest way to get back mpg.

    Yes I have CAT's. Unfortunatly I live in PA where you have to have emission testing. Also Pacesetter says that the black paint is only for manufacturing and trasportation not for high temp ratings and will burn off relatively fast.

    Yes, I have one, but was worried about debris getting in where it doesn't belong. Are there liquid solvents that would evaporate so the paint comes off the outside and whatever liquid goes inside evaporates?
