You should ALWAYS use the exhaust brake to prevent carbon build up on the actuator in the turbo. It's a variable geometry turbo, over time carbon will build up and prevent it from sliding. Using the exhaust brake, engages the actuator when you let off the throttle, to slow the vehicle.

The tubing they use is garbage as well. I had them on my last ram, slightly bumped a rock while turning in my driveway and crushed the step. I'm never buying from the, again.
I just got rid of my 2013 ram 2500 cummins for this truck. The ride comfort for my 1500 is WAY better than my 2500. I don't pay attention to fuel mileage so I can't comment in that.
