Unfortunately since I didn't do the work myself I have no way of knowing. I don't think the dealer kept track of it either. I would normally do the work myself but I don't have garage large enough to do the work in the time it would take me.
This pertains to MDS equipped Hemi's only:
Sure, "Hemi Tick" is almost always a bad lifter. You should be able to easily hear the lifter going out, it is distinct from injector noise. The problem is most dealers are really just parts swappers and if the computer isn't throwing a code they...
There's been a continuous 10k+ BO on the MDS lifters for two years straight and no back orders on the non MDS lifters. Do you think that's because it hardly ever happens and the internet is where whiners congregate or because MDS lifters are problematic?
If I were buying a new truck tomorrow it...
Sure, swap lifters, cam, and ECU plus pull radiator, AC condenser, oil pan, and all drive accessories. Would you like to cut me a check for $3k and cover all other engine and transmission warranty on my 3yo truck with 29k miles?
Nope. Same problem in every MDS Hemi. They all use the same part number. My real beef is Melling makes the lifters and has them in stock...but FCA refuses to buy them in smaller quantities so BO's stack up and customer's vehicles go unwarrantied.
Yes, the 6.4 has a serious issue with MDS lifters going out. I'm on my 4th set, each time FCA has had a 10k+ unit back order. It's not isolated to the 6.4, the bad lifters are in ever Hemi engine made.
I'm on my 4th set of MDS lifters. My truck has been off the road for more than 45 days this last time. I've missed trip after trip and total down time is probably close to 90 days. One of these days there is going to be a class action lawsuit against FCA over this.
The Cummins trucks are hydroboost, the Hemi trucks are vacuum boost. All gas 2500/3500 have been vacuum boost since 03. Online Mopar parts dealers are often incorrect and shouldn't be used to research part numbers.
The gas 2500/3500 do not have hydroboost brakes.
OP, reach under the dash and put your hand on the steering shaft when you rev up the engine. Sound from the powder steering pump can travel up the steering shaft. I wonder if you have a power steering pump going out.
For you guys wanting to do service work in the engine compartment but find it physically difficult, take a look at the Topside Creeper. It allows you to rest over a padded ladder-like platform instead of the truck.

"Deadly" LULZ! Don's instructions say to set caster and toe. As in, on the alignment print out they need to be within those stated specs. Since toe changes with chaster that pretty much means you need to set caster and then the toe. If the alignment shop doesn't understand that then you've...
The single biggest shortcoming to the 6.4 2500 was the 66RFE gearing. I'm not going to buy the new model but to say I'm a little jelly is an understatement.
Heat gun, zip ties, and a little trimming. Where there's a will, there's a way. I ran 37's on 2" of lift and RAM_Designs is running the same suspension. You have more lift and smaller tires, you just need to trim a little.
