    Rear end howling/scratching noise

    Had a Nissan pinion bearing go bad one time. It would make a singing sound on deceleration like youre talking about. It cost 200 bucks to replace it, that was the bearing, seal, and refill the rear diff. That was 10 years ago. No telling on price now.

    I'm all for American built stuff too, but the Rams are put together in Canada and Mexico. Toyota has majority of the parts shipped in, and then assembled here. At least the Toyota plants pay taxes and give Americans jobs, not Canadians and Mexicans.

    If i remember correctly, the donuts put the ball joints at a funny angle. Most guys with the 4x4s use the bilstein shocks (5100 I think?) that you can adjust to level out the front end.

    I'd just drive the hell out of it til it breaks, or til the warranty is up. I dang sure wouldn't be coming out of pocket to pay for gears when it's just a whine.

    I agree they look like a Tundra. The sad thing is that if I want a truck that looks like a Tundra, I'll buy a Tundra. It will have much better resale value.

    Sea Foam

    I use it some in my vehicles in the gas, but mostly older ones with throttle body or carbs. Works great in small engines like mowers, tillers, chainsaw, etc. For our trucks, I would use the stuff that you spray directly in the throttle body instead of putting the can in the gas tank.

    It looks like the unit is bolted to the engine block of the 3.6, so I wonder if you can take it off? The 5.7 goes on top, i bet you can swap a pulley and a new belt, and tune out the E-torque.

    V6 or hemi

    Rdeath, I would give it a little more time to check on the mileage. Are you driving around town mostly, or highway? Are you driving 75 to 80 mph on the highway? Winter blend gas and cold temps can kill gas mileage pretty quickly, and coupled with city driving 15 mpg is probably about right.

    The E-torque generator is what provides the additional 130 ft lbs of torque. Supposedly, the generator will kick in and take load off the engine at startoff, and will provide a little extra power when going up hills, etc to prevent having to downshift.

    This is my take on the matter, so take it with a grain of salt. If it were me, I would find me a good Ram dealership nearby and see what they would give me for trade. If they would pay it off as is, I'd hop in a leftover 17 on the lot that they will be trying to give away.

    Yep, you can order a 5th gen with the hemi and not get the e-torque. Supposedly it will be optional on lower trims, and come standard on higher trims. Also, I noticed you can only get the max tow package on a truck that has the hemi, e-torque, 8 speed, and 3.92 gears.

    Aight, I did some reading and it looks like the electric motor will be standard on the 3.6, and will be optional on the hemi on the lower trims. It looks like the higher trims come standard with the electric motor, even with the hemi.

    I don't care if I am able to disable the generator, it's still there and will put drag on the engine. If they all come standard with it, I'll be buying somebody's used express or tradesman.
