Ive said it so many times on this forum and everybody always gets they're panties in a wad about the 3.21 gears but here it goes again 8 speed or not the 3.21 gear is a useless gear for a truck period. 1st and 2nd are acceptable then after that its shit. In theory it should but if it misfires some times and not others then it will store a code but not show up on the dash. Ive seen it quite a few times on various vehicles. This may not be the issue here but its a possibility. More times than not when a motor is missing under a load its a firing...- shane1981

Yhe 6.4 would require alot of parts swapping from my motor andcwould ruin my complete extra motor and i wouldnt be able to do a direct swap due to it being incomplete from needing some parts from my motor.
