    Lets talk about brakes....

I'll be looking too do something similar this spring/summer as well, but mine aren't bad enough to need it yet. I just know that getting bigger (and heavier) tires and wheels will likely wear them out enough to need an upgrade soon.

    1991 W150 towing capacity

I towed a sedan on a car hauler. I don't know how long it was but estimated that it was in the neighborhood of 3500-4500 lbs. I also know that I put a 7000 lb. bumper and 6500 lb. ball on there prior to doing this. It was slow, but not ridiculous.

So my truck has had a relatively significant Christmas break and I wanted to share the updates with you all. Comments, advice, concerns and questions are welcome and appreciated. A couple days before the 25th, we installed the new rear bumper finally, a carbon steel 2" ball, and did a few other...

Thanks Sniper! I like the truck a lot. The tailgate that was on it was terribly rusted, even the hinge it pivoted on was completely rusted off on one side. So the tailgate would go up and down sideways and even licked in the upright position, if there was any weight on the bottom it would tilt...

Are you referring to the cruise control/acceleration issue the Audi's had back in the 80's? Or the car breaking down? Mine's a 5 speed with disconnected cruise control, so the car drives fine.....when it's running. I recently had to replace the entire fuse box and front engine harness and gauge...

So......after hauling tons of stuff, replacing the PS pump, sprucing up the interior, fixing rust, installing fog lights, having the steering repaired to get rid of steering wheel play, replacing the fuel tank straps, taking out the DURALINER, some cheap exhaust fixes, getting new (old) wheels...

Best Material For Replacing Interior Carpet

I recently did the bed-liner option (after repairing the rusted floors) and it worked well. I then put some generic rubber mats in front of the seat where feet are placed most often so that it's easy to take them out and shake them to clean them.

My 1992 Dodge W-150, and some questions

Wow, nice looking truck and welcome! That looks a 1/2 ton nicer than my 1991 W-150!

Thanks for the compliments guys. The truck works great and will get a much needed rear bumper, small dent repair, ignition tune-up and Monstaliner midnight blue paint job in the next couple months (with pics to follow). First things first though-moving into a house with a garage!

Sorry Bill, the tailgate was terribly rusted and did not function (latch or swing) properly, so I promptly discarded it and replaced it with a tough bed net.

    any cool 1st gens?

Nice rig! I'm looking to eventually get my W-150 looking like a decent truck this spring.

    fuel tank problem

I'm not familiar with fuel cells (yet). I would think that if it's basically a newer, boxier gas tank, you'd just need to make sure you can fill it up the same way and allow fuel out the same way as the original-so maybe a regular in-line pump and a pre and post pump in-line filter?

Paint chipped and rusted on corner of my tailgate

Certainly it depends how bad it is. You'll also want to find the cause of the chipping and rust and do something to keep it from happening again. In for pics.

    Rear bumper

Didn't see this reply earlier, but thanks for it. I ended up with an OEM style bumper. I was figuring I'd end up with a custom spare mount-no problem. Thanks again!

    Rear bumper

Can anyone recommend me a good rear bumper for my 91 w150? I'm looking for something simple to put on, and I'll likely put a bedliner coating on it, so the finish doesn't matter much to me. I'm also looking for something to mount my spare tire under the bed. Thanks!

Thanks very much. The rear tire well rust was repaired (not perfectly, but acceptably), but the tailgate was shot. Other than that, I was very surprised how clean it is. Also, the paint is a poorer quality roll-on epoxy, and I plan to do a dark blue and gold Monstaliner two-tone job to even it...

Thanks! Forgot to mention that the first thing I did was drain and replace all the oils (engine, transfer case, differential [both]) and didn't find anything alarming, and replace the wiper motor and wiper arm bushing, oil and air filters.

Hey fellas, new here. Just bought a '91 W-150 with minimal rust, working 4wd, 4-speed manual, <100K. I think I added pics of how it was when I received it as attachments. Plans include losing the tailgate, regular maintenance, exhaust work, rust & dent repair followed by paint, fixing radio...
