My trans decided to go out and I’m looking for a replacement, what are the differences between these and the Durango 5.9 transmissions? I have a 1998 ram 1500 5.2 chassis auto with a 5.9 swap. I’ve heard that there are differences depending on the years, is this true?

I’ll hopefully be fixing it next week, parts are on the way! As a bit of a newbie to transmission work, is RTV okay for the pan gasket?

I checked the fluid on the side of the road and it was full, but it did smell burnt. The linkage I will need to check. But it didn’t feel any differently than usual.

I think my transmission just went out on me. It doesn’t shift out of first gear and then it starts to slip. Am I crazy?

I was on my way home and my radio shut off, then I heard a pop and started smelling a burnt smell and smoke. I pulled my radio and saw some wires had melter together (not sure how) I fixed those and replaced the fuse but when I turned it on there was smoke from behind the gauges and the fuse...
So I tried bleeding the system and found that only the top 3 inches of the radiator get hot. I assume that’s a clog of some kind?

I’ve got a 98 1500 which has had a 99 5.9 swapped in (still running in the 5.2 computer) that has just started overheating. I just did a water pump when I put the engine in less than 1500 miles ago. Pretty much whenever I drive I need to have the heater on full blast and the engine temp will...
I believe the plenum was already done when I purchased the engine. And I have already done distributor wires and plugs. So heads and tune? Then exhaust? I can do that at home as my father has a welder and loads of experience. What heads did you buy/where did you get them? Also thanks for all the...
I've got a 98 ram with a 99 5.9 engine and I'd like to do a bit of a build, first heads (engine quest) then carb conversion and eventually a cam. I know for the carb conversion I need to get a different intake, would it be worth it to get the heads with the older LA bolt pattern for more...
I currently am running a 99 5.9 off of the original 98 5.2 PCM, however I have a 01 5.9 PCM will it be better to swap that one in or leave the original? I'm kinda clueless and any help is appreciated.

I just finished my 5.2-5.9 swap in my truck (98 ram 1500 2wd) all the connections on the harness were the same and the mounts were the same for me. Not sure about the Durango or 4wd but it was a pretty easy swap.
I'm using the stock 5.2 computer right now and she runs pretty great. I would...
Nitro drop 2. If you email the guys at Andys Auto Sports the can tell you the exact model number. They were very helpful with me!

I recently lowered my truck (1998 1500 RWD) I used shackles in the back and springs in the front. You will need to get shocks for the rear, since that's what you plan on lowering.

Seems like it should work, you will need a new ecu/wiring harness, possibly flywheel, and new air filter set up. But I think the motor mounts are the same. I'd love to see pictures of you decide to go for it!

I nearly done swapping engines in my truck, I went from a Magnum 5.2 (which my grandfather blew up) to a Magnum 5.9. I am trying to get it all connected and can't seem to find where the last 2 plugs go! it's starting to make me mad because winter is fast approaching where I live. any Ideas? one...
I getting to the end of my 5.2 - 5.9 swap and I'm running into some issues with connected and plugs. And by that I mean I have no idea where they go. If you wouldn't mind taking a look at the pics and giving me some help, I would greatly appreciate it!
