    Saving a solid truck

Not sure where the carpet came from, it was in a junkyard truck. Someone had covered a vinyl floor "fleet" truck with that carpet. I snatched it up quick.

    Saving a solid truck

So, to revive this decrepit thread, this project stalled when i tore down the jeep 4.7 HO and discovered a shelled out lower end. Spun rod bearing and broken cap. Snapped the cylinder skirts too ruining the block. Anyway, now we have a 4.7 durango motor that was running when pulled, so we are...

Pulling rear axle to change ebrake shoes ?

I just did the parking brake shoes on my 3rd gen. Same story, I pulled the axles. Gave me a chance to inspect the differential. I use a big under bed type Rubbermaid to catch the diff oil. Then rotate the axles to get access to the 8mm cross pin retainer, remove it, and remove the cross pin...

I got this for 100 bux because they said it smokes, so i am going to tear it down and check everything out. Check cylinder taper, piston condition, rings, valve guides and seals, all the good stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think that was indeed some field mice from the truck missing a door. Nothin a little shop vac can't fix! I did pull the dash to make sure the critters were truly gone.

    Saving a solid truck

I have not purchased any parts yet because I have not picked up the engine yet. Until I can give it a deep dive inspection I wont know what it needs to correct the knock. For now I am undoing a lot of the mess of the interior. it has come a long way. Here are some before pics

    Saving a solid truck

Last week I found a 2002 regular cab 4.7 4x4 on craigslist for cheap. 212000 miles, and the motor dropped two valves, one in each head. Prior owner started a teardown, and got as far as the engine out with the heads off, then let it rust. So i found a line on an 02 jeep 4.7 HO for 100 bux...

My battery finally gave up on me.

My best guess is that the longevity was due to driving lots of highway miles. Every time I drive the truck the charging system has plenty of time to maintain the charge level. No short hops to put much strain on it. 9.5 years and 120000 miles later, rest in peace warrior battery lol Sent...

My battery finally gave up on me.

It's actually kind of impressive. The original battery in my 2004 1500 finally has bit the dust. It was manufactured july 10 2004. I am doing the full suite of winter readiness maintenance to the truck and this battery will still start the truck just fine, but it is showing its age on cold...
