OP here I have 2017 6.4 The 16 and the 18 diagrams are the same so my 17 probably the same. The bite is getting my big hands in there, without bleeding to death.- wgreggking

Need belt diagram help for 2017 2500 6.4 single alternator.
I have a 2018 diagram, no belt diagram under the hood. I have a new belt, got the gates. Removed the oem belt, and cant seem to get the new one on. spent several hours trying to solve this. The new belt is the same as the oem length.- wgreggking

Does anyone else but me think there are way too many electronics in today's vehicles?
Love my 17 2500 0ffroad 4x4 Tradesman, as about low tech as you can get in this era. Got a 96 Mustang GT convertible, easy to repair and diagnose. Same with 99 Toyota Camry, and my 64 Mercury Comet. Saw mid 2000's crew cab 4x4s on Mecham auctions quite affordable.- wgreggking

Ever watch the show on motortrend TV, Engine Masters? They tested multiple filters, brands, sizes, flow rates, on the Dyno, same engine, wasn't too much differences. Might try the 20-820- wgreggking

Correct the Roller end was perfect. When the internal part of the MDS lifter, as you shake it in your hand should move back and forth, it did not. It was in the Collapsed mode with the push-rod and rocker slapping around? My mechanic, when he first heard it, Said it might be just one lifter...- wgreggking

Update after repair: my mechanic found#1 MDS lifter internal lifter stuck, push rod banging the end, was the tapping noise. The roller end was not flattened or scored. 2017 6.4 4x4. 105 K miles. Been using PUP,0w40, at first, changed to RL 0w40 at 40K. RP filters,and Bio Lubegaurd. I have done 18 oil changes, last at 104K. 40 K sounds about right, for mixed use, HD Truck My rig: 17 6.4 2500 4x4 OFF Road, at 100+ K miles now. I love Cooper AT3 XLT 75/70R18. plenty of towing, not heavy, 4k to 6k TT, boat, car hauler. plenty off road use also. I also lower the pressure to 60/65 when not towing. 2019 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi ticking noise from engine.
My guess, single side, cold start, it would most likely be a exhaust manifold gasket. It should get somewhat quieter when hot.- wgreggking

Interstate Battery -- 14years, RIP
Interstate, 2 dual battery's in 2015 RV, lasted 7yrs. Boat same, all trickle charged. Tried Orielys deep cycle in the boat, 1.5 yrs, back to Interstate. Have a Duralast AGM in my 2500 17, I was in a pinch, on a Sunday. I test it frequently, bet it wont make 2 yrs, $200, junk.- wgreggking

How to prevent yourself from getting locked out ?
17 tradesman 2500 does not have all those electronics, 2 fobs, One I carry and the other in my wife's purse. Could lose one or lock in in the truck if nor careful. Dealer forced oil change packages
6.4 2017 now at 96K mi. Did all my own oil change's (except one) and went with oil sample reports.
