    87 or 89 octane

I use the Diablosport Trinity to log ST/LT knock. Like I said, even on 93 I was getting knock which reduces timing/power. This isnt just one vehicle either... It was my 09 5.7 1500, my 2012 5.7 1500, my 2013 5.7 Challenger, my GF's 13 v6 Charger, her v6 Jeep and now my 20 1500 5.7. Every...

long tube header options for 2019 ram 1500?

I dont believe it at all. The 5.7 in the Challenger is slightly different but I had total power loss installing my 3/4 long tubes and high flow cats until I got it tuned and it made a night and day difference. The computers can handle small changes in air/fuel but not something as drastic of a...

    ARH Headers question???

Its probably been beaten to death but you need a tune with long tubes to see any gains. On my 5.7 challenger I lost low/high end with just the ARH long tubes 3/4 until I got it tuned and it was a night and day difference. Huge low end torque increase. Putting on headers without a proper tune...

    87 or 89 octane

So many "I use 87 and have no problems" posts... Yes, you will not have problems as these engines are designed to run on that octane. The way they make this happen is by timing reduction aka less power. What everyone is missing out on is that the difference in price going from 87 to 89 is...

    Premium Gas

I have seen this lazy argument before. All it takes to disprove it is data logging gas from two different stations in your area. Your ST/LT knock will differ even on the same octane. I tried 93 shell vs chevron and found in all cases that chevron produced much lower ST/LT knock. Timing...

    Premium Gas

Unless you datalog you are just guessing. As I stated in my previous post all 4 of my 09+ hemi's had timing reduction while running 93 octane, even worse running 89. The MPG gain when moving to 93 outweighed the extra cost at the pump so there was no waste in money any my vehicles were making...

    Vented Seats Inconsistent

Yea I tested it myself and was surprised to see that it does actually pull air. Doesnt make sense to me as you are pulling moisture into the seat.

    Vented Seats Inconsistent

Just read that it is an independent unit so the temperature of the air coming out is whatever it is pulling from the cabin. This makes much more sense.

    Vented Seats Inconsistent

I wear shorts and a t shirt most of the time. Its not a subtle difference, its like having a regular fan on you vs A/C. One is a little airflow that is cool and the other times its like I am sitting on an A/C vent.

    Vented Seats Inconsistent

Has anyone else noticed their vented/cooled seats being inconsistent? Its a brand new 2020 1500 limited and what made me start noticing was one day I was driving with my brother in the passenger seat when I turned on his sides cooling and he said it was really cold and felt like a air hockey...

    Premium Gas

I have owned 4 2009+ 5.7 Hemi's now, 3 trucks and 1 Challenger. Every single one of them had ST and LT knock on 93 gas in Texas. This isnt the old days, you dont always hear knock in these newer engines. The sensors can pick up what you are not hearing and reduce timing. The only way to be...

    U Connect App

I have been debating the yearly cost vs the performance of the app remote start myself. I usually dont remember to use it until I am grabbing my stuff and getting ready to leave. A few times now the truck has started as I was walking up to it. If it takes a minute to start up after using the...

    CAI questions and more

Same thing with some of the better intakes on the challengers. When at idle it will heat soak much faster but dissipate that heat in seconds instead of minutes like the stock box. Curious as to exactly how fast it can recover from full heat soak... Might have to do some testing myself.

    CAI questions and more

Something that is not often mentioned is the heat soak on a stock box takes 5+ minutes of driving 60+ mph in order to bring your temps back down to normal. Carbon fiber like the legmaker will dissipate that heat in seconds. K&N still use thick plastic which I believe will have the same...

    Best headers for 5.7?

For the 5.7 1 3/4 are best if you are keeping it NA or not stroking it. Proven time and time again on the challenger forums.

    Blackstone - used oil analysis

Thanks for the info. Do you know what type of moly is used in redline? There are different kinds which makes the numbers for "high/low" different. Tri-something is supposedly better and requires less ppm for the same effect. From what I remember reading years ago now, most oils that had high...

    HEMI 5.7 or 6.4

09 5.7 60k miles bought used. No issues. 12 5.7 20k miles bought new. Weird stutter/shift issue in one specific part of my daily drive that no one could figure out. Low RPM power was poor but as soon as it hit 4k it would take off. Knew it was different from the 09. No fix for either issue so...

    Blackstone - used oil analysis

How does the moly count in redline compare to amsoil ss? Do they use different versions? There was an SRT engineer in the challenger forums years ago that mentioned high moly is good for vvt function specifically so the higest moly I could find at the time was amsoil ss and been using that since.

Surging idle after overnight cold soak

Couple of suggestions for those affected by this issue. 1. Check the torque on the intake manifold bolts 2. (little extreme) Check the gap on your spark plugs The reason I bring these two things up is that my challenger also had cold start issues and sometimes idle surges when at a stop. Did...

Opinions on 19 Speaker Harman Kardon sound system

JUST got a 2020 with the HK system. Sounds amazing and I cant turn it up all the way due to it just being too loud. Are these problems on the 19's an older?

    Need Help with longtube Headers

I put ARH 1 3/4 long tubes on my 5.7 challenger and it absolutely killed the performance, until i got a custom tune.. I already knew they needed to be tuned before installing but the 2 or so weeks between the install and the final custom tune felt like it was a 4 cyl. After the tune it was a...

    Shorty Headers+ypipe

Funny to see the shorties/long tube debate still going on nearly 8 years after I joined the forum. Theres a lot more evidence over at the challenger/charger forums that long tubes will outperform shorties at all rpm. Putting ARH on my 5.7 Challenger was a night and day difference from bottom...

    Srt8 6.4 intake manifold

Also, 89mm is overkill on the 5.7 unless you plan on going with a big build.

    Srt8 6.4 intake manifold

Yes, the ram already has an active intake so I doubt there would be much of a difference. Where did you get the intake off the challenger? I am actually looking for one to put on my 5.7 challenger as it does not have the active runners like the ram or 6.4.
