No Keyless entry on the tradesman ?

I see it like this, for less than you would pay for it to come from the factory, you can have it done better through aftermarket. For just over the 300 dollars that others are quoting you can get a two way remote setup with the option to not have a panic button. I said my next vehicle wouldn't...

    Oil Change Nightmare

LKQ of all places. It seems the dealership actually went to bat for me because the first one the adjuster found had 26k miles on it. That's a big jump from the 9k on the truck.

    Oil Change Nightmare

It was news to me as well. Just picked the truck up, it runs great with no issues. Ended up costing 500 out of pocket out the door. Which is a lot better than the 8100 dollar quote I got for the new engine.

    Oil Change Nightmare

Sorry for the delay on responding, we have a bit of a hurricane headed our way (depending on which track they are going with this hour). Insurance got involved and covered it with comprehensive. I got absolutely NOWHERE with FCA corporate who only employ the finest douchebags to talk on the...

    Oil Change Nightmare

With insurance involved in it and me potentially not on the hook for the cost, I would sleep a lot better at night with a brand new crate engine in the truck than I would with a junkyard engine, rebuilt engine, or even a remanufactured engine. Though I already looked into a Jasper, none are...

    Oil Change Nightmare

So I just got back from the dealership. The process they used to determine the engine was shot was to first check the oil level in the engine, add oil till it was full, then attempt to start the truck. I did see the filter with the double gasket. There was definitely two gaskets there, of...

    Oil Change Nightmare

I'm going up there to talk to them as soon as I can. Surprisingly enough the quote I got for them to replace the entire thing came out shockingly low. Just over 8k with tax out the door. I'm going to ask to see their justification on it needing a new engine. I'd prefer to do that in person and...

    Oil Change Nightmare

If I messed up, I would be the first to admit it. I physically put my finger on the gasket of the old filter. I'm willing to take a polygraph to back up my story.

    Oil Change Nightmare

Now the next set of questions.... How much should an engine replacement cost? Will a 6.4 fit in a 1500? If so how much more do you think that would run?

    Oil Change Nightmare

I was thinking maybe the OEM had 2 gaskets on it, that's why I asked if they could certify that it didn't. He asked me how it would have been able to go for so long with two gaskets from the filter which would be easy enough to figure out with the oil filter being on so incredibly tight. Like...

    Oil Change Nightmare

So I rolled the window down as I was pulling over to listen for knocks. I didn't hear anything but could smell oil the second I pulled over. I might have went a mile max as there was almost no shoulder to pull over when the light came on. I reduced power and speed and pulled over the first place...

    Oil Change Nightmare

Oil was EVERYWHERE in the engine bay. I probably left the better part of half a quart on the roll back

    Oil Change Nightmare

I didn't have a way to get back up there yesterday, but they said they have pics before they pulled the old one off and after. I can go by tomorrow but if they have pics either it had two gaskets on it then or it does now.

    Oil Change Nightmare

No, I took a pic of the oil filter after having to resort to curved vice grips to get the OEM one off but it didn't show the face of the filter, just the back end. I really wish I had a pic of the filter (which would have a date in the EXIF) that showed the gasket. I am more than willing to take...

    Oil Change Nightmare

No oil leaking at all. I checked that right after I changed it, and checked the oil level several times since then. Truck stays in the garage overnight and nothing there either. Not a single drop.

    Oil Change Nightmare

Long story short, 2 weeks ago I changed my own oil on my truck for the first time. The filter was on extremely tight but when I got it removed I checked that the gasket came off with it. It did, I even stuck my fingernail into the gasket to see if it was rock hard after it was torqued on so...

    Jumpseat seat removal

I've tried using the search function with no success. I have a 2016 quadcab and need storage space. I have the front jump seat and don't want to lose my armrest/storage/cupholder space along with the aux in connection but need a place to put my camera bag (it's a pretty big bag). Is it possible...

    AWD Lift Question

So much bad info on here. They used to make a AWD Ram, they stopped. NO a 4x4 in auto is NOT the same thing as an AWD Ram. The reason the lifts weren't recommended for the AWD is because the front was ALWAYS engaged in the AWD (even on the pavement) and it would wear your front end out in no...

Just heard - Recall for Rams that may roll away after being parked

I haven't seen this as so much of an issue with the trucks as it is the cars and some SUVs. On my charger the automatic shifter returned to the center position when you let go of it. It took some getting used to, but it honestly wasn't bad. The only challenge was occasionally finding reverse...

Possibly trading in my 3Rd gen and buying a 4th gen Ram....

Speaking as an owner of the 6 and 8 speed, both with the 3.92 rear end, GET THE 8 SPEED.

    5.7 and 6.4 hemi Longevity

What I can tell you is the 6.4 was designed from the ground up to be a truck motor. It is not the same engine you see in the Scat Pack cars. Taking the previous owner out of the equation, and buying one new, with you taking good care of it, I don't think a rebuild would even be something you...

    Back in a RAM!

Oh, one other small thing I miss about the Charger, when you are in the left lane and hauling ass in a blacked out Charger, most people just get out of your way. Now I have to tailgate all the people in the fast lane that aren't going fast like everyone else. Kinda joking, kinda not.

    Back in a RAM!

Honestly, since I got rid of my old TJ (wasn't going to work with a newborn) this truck feels the most "at home" for me of any vehicle I've owned since. The only thing I miss from my charger is the Keyless Go. All the other stuff I seldomly used. I like simple and utilitarian.

    Leveled Amplified Road Noise

Silly question, but did you get an alignment afterwards? Seems like if a tire wasn't sitting "square" with the road, it could cause some noise.
